aikman didn't have emmitt his rookie year, and they only played 10 seasons together!! compare that to waters/craig with rice for 8....pretty close man!! if you look at waters/craigs total numbers (rush/rec) they compare very well with emmitt....in fact there were several years emmitt only had 1300 or so total yards!!
and there isn't a person around that wont tell you that much of the reason for the cowboys offensive success in the 90s was due to their offensive line!!
oh, i can go on with the other RBs that played with rice!! garrison hearst had 1200+ yards in 97, 2000+ yards in 98, and 1500+ in 2001....charlie garner had 1700+ yards in 99....terry kirby had 1000+ yards in 96...Derek Loville had 1300+ yards in 95

Am I nuts? Uh, not whatsoever. When he retired, he left as the QB with the MOST rushing yards as a QB, He had 29,979 yards passing and 242 touchdowns, including 35 rushing.
In 1998 Cunningham threw for 3,704 yards, 34 TDs and was intercepted only 10 timesand helped the Vikes set a then NFL-record 556 points and earn a berth in the NFC Championship Game. Hes probably one of the most Athletic QBs to play.
Another thing going his way (Not racist way) is that he is a Black QB. They made a huge deal about Warren Moon (Also a Past Vikings QB) making it in. Cunningham wasnt as good as Moon, but still has a very good shot of making it in.

warren moon broke barriers for guys like cunningham....thats why him being a black quarterback was a big deal.
ken anderson has better numbers all around....so does jim hart, chris (i mean jim) everett, and john brodie!! should they get in? should kerry collins, drew bledsoe, mark brunell all get in??
so he threw for 3700 yards in 98...that is nothing!! probably ranks 50 all time or so (just threw that out, but just saw a list of atleast 30 thats thrown for over 4000 including brunell and collins!!)...steve beuerlein threw 37 tds in a season.
look, he is a GOOD qb, but not a hofer!!
kinda funny that the two people who think he should be in are vikes/eagles fans!!

Ok, and I guess John Riggins deserves it? How is he NOT Better than Aikman? His career statistics include 32,942 yards and 165 touchdowns for a passer rating of 81.6. Cunningham has 242 and 35 were rushing! He not only had standout WR's (Unlike Cunningham for most his career) but also had Emmitt as a RB.
Look at the Marino And Elways, they had DOUBLE the Attempts of Passing, hence the extra Yardage. You cant tell me if his offense had him pass more, he wouldnt be really close. Cunningham even has a Better TD - INT rate than Elway does.
Cunningham has 207 Passing TDs and 134 Interceptions. Aikman has (In 4 more games may I add) 165 Tds and 141 Interceptions! Cunningham had almost as many yards (942) Rushing in one season, as Aikman had in his entire career (1016). You cant tell me that Aikman is THAT much better, if better at all.
Not only that, but take into place his 3 MVPS, him being a versatile player and being able to be a punter. He definitely has the makings of someone who COULD make the HOF.

im done arguing with you man!! the only redskin i ever brought up was art monk (who retired the ALL TIME leader in receptions)....dont wanna hear about FLAWED mvp awards (read my other posts!!) and dont wanna hear that cunningham is as good as favre/elway!! if he never played a down for the vikes, i bet you would have a different opinion!! of the original list posted, you picked the two vikes (over freakin bruce matthews, a FOURTEEN time pro bowler???)....come on dude!! im done with this thread, you all have fun waiting 10-15 years for cunningham to get a look!!

Btw, McDaniel went out with the league-record string of 12 consecutive Pro Bowl starts. McDaniel blocked for five 1,000-yard rushers and four 3,000-yard passers during his career.
Id say hes pretty deserving as well.

sure is....matthews did 14 straight too (dont know if he started them all, but went to 14 straight)....i got nothing against your opinion man, i just think its a bit "overwhelming" to compare randall to elway/favre....those are two guys that many people consider the BEST EVER....dont think you will ever hear those two words come out of anybodys mouth about cunningham!!
and im a huge, diehard fan of my teams too, but i also am a fan of sports in general and i will never put any players on my teams "above the game"....you will never hear me argue for theismann for the hall (he doesn't deserve it) but you cant tell me that riggins doesn't belong, and that art monk shouldn't be the first guy to go in!!! (top 10 in receptions and yards STILL)....shoot, ive been bashing my current skins on every radio show i can get a number for!!
no hard feelings man....was in no way bashing your opinion, just throwing the facts / stats out there on the subject!! take care!!

proudestmonkey- My bad. Irvin came in 88, Aikman 89, and Smith 90. With the exception of Craig, and MAYBE Waters, Rice made all those RB's better. And if they were so good, why did they only have a couple of good years. In comaprison to Smith's whole career, or even Rice's whole career. Thats why THEY had such great numbers, Rice opened things up for them.
And you're right, Smith had a great O-Line, and Moose Johnston. Smith goes on and on talking about how alot of his success is because of Moose. But he didnt have Moose or that great O-line his entire career. The O-Line he had when he broke the record was pretty "iffy".
Rice, Montana, and Young are three of the greatest players of all time, along with Aikman, Smith, and Irvin. Its all a matter of people's point of view who was better, or who was overrated. I guess the only reason I said they were overrated was because you still hear about them, and you dont ever hear about the dynasty of the Cowboys. Emmitt Smith broke Walter Paytons record and you still hear more about him than Smith. People keep saying Aikman and Irvin dont belong in the HOF, because their numbers arent as good as others. But if you have someone like Smith (and the O-line and Mosse) why not use it. If Rice, Montana, and Young arent overrated, then the Aikman, Smith, and Irvin are underrated. Well, maybe not Smith so much. Maybe im just being a homer here.
And i'm not taking anything away from either 49'ers team. I watched the team with Young and have tons of respect for them. Didnt get to see Montana though, but still have respect for him. I just feel the big three from the Cowboys deserve just as much (not more, just as much) as those three from San Fran.
