Okay these threads have to stop and people have to get back to trading
and I think Devin Hester is a strong player but people just wanting the players that are hot... what happens the next week when they have a perminet injury where they cannont play pro football anymore will those people still be collecting them.... I think not.... If you are a true collector you need to go for people from your home team or what not and not just after the hottest player out there.. for everyone i think i am going to ditch my new orlean saints collection and collect Mike Furrey... Who you may ask yes it is a Detroit Lions 3rd reciever.... Collecting should be for the fun and not just about making money.... Sorry just felt like venting err im getting frustrated with all these people going after the people who have one good game.... what happened to Caddy and Ronnie Brown i rarely see people going after them now..... why is that because they arent a Barry Sanders or Ladailnian Tomlinson....

It doesn't bother me as much as it apparently bothers other people...the only thing that annoys me is when it's a player that I collect; i.e., I'm interested in Artose Pinner cards because I collect UK alumni, but if I tried to get one of his RCs/autos now I would have to pay a ridiculous amount! Guess I'll have to wait until next week when Taylor is back ;)

It is what it is. People go after who is HOT. Life goes on.
Be patient and prices will come down.
Example. As most know, I'm a Cowboys fan. I have a Romo PC with 2 whole cards in it that I pulled myself. Right now his RCs are WAY too high for me, but they'll come down. If not not....I won't own unless via trade.
Now,if (big if) he take the Boys to a SB victory, I will have to fork over the bucks for my PC. But until then...I wait.

It just doesnt ruin the hobby, it ruins everything in general. I've been a Saints fan since the mid 90s when the specific reason why I started liking them was to take a crappy team and watch them build their way up, rather than get on a bandwagon team like Dallas or San Fran at the time. So now that the Saints are doing well, it ticks me off to see all these people buying and trading for Reggies and Colstons, because they're the flavor of the week, while a real fan like me, gets shut out because I don't feel like paying a ridculous price for some of the cards. Get on a team or player and stick with it!

When people have the wisdom and foresight to buy large lots of rookies for dirt cheap prices, whether they want ALL of them or not (rather than nagging, "Can you break up the 93 card chrome RC lot you're selling for $11 delivered, for the ONE I want?" case in point- https://www.sportscardforum.com/showthread.php?t=258084).. they end up with the Romos, Hesters, etc. on down the road when they are hot... Is this going to change anyone's buying habits? Nope, people will still bust $250 boxes hoping to pull the $500 HOT card that goes for $125 about a month after the product comes out, and the bandwagon has already been hitched to another horse. 99% of the hobby continues to be stupidity driven. People continue to whine about the very things they continue to FUEL themselves.

i havent been on the site for a long time, but i have collected for a while. i definitely agree with all of this...i've always collected warriors, now i have to give my left arm for a monta ellis rc. sticking to who you collect just makes the hobby all the more enjoyable. I collect tim duncan too. who cares if his cards arent worth as much as lebron or wade? he's my favorite player, and i think one of the greatest parts about the hobby is trading for a card you like while ignoring the BV. I know when i was younger, i would trade away kobe bryants to my friend for john stockton. moneywise, probably not a good idea, but if you're a stockton fan...whats not to like?

My .02$: its the name of the game my friend. Take advantage of those people, and collect who you want...
For instance, I wont even search on Ebay for Cutler, as his stuff is crazy high. Claretts stuff is going for eeexxxttttraaa cheap right now, so I get those now, last summer though, claretts were higher...
