Here's what I have to say to all of this: Whatever.

What do you expect to happen when a player gets hot? More people want their cards. No one is doing anyone a disservice here. Shino, even as a Bears fan, you said yourself you weren't trying to get a Devin Hester auto until recently when the prices started to go up. Others have mentioned the Saints...come on, did anyone expect Reggie Bush autographs to be cheap at any point this year? It's the way it goes. Someone equated it to stocks, and that is a VERY good comparison. When certain players do well (especially when they do well for an extended period of time, as in a few games or a whole season) more people will want their cards, therefore more people will be willing to pay more for their cards.

For those complaining that the people they collect are too expensive right now and they can't get their cards, I bet none of you would complain if you pulled a Reggie Bush or Vince Young auto out of a pack. And I'm sure that you wouldn't hesitate to sell it for a huge payday.

Just collect the cards if you want to. If you can't buy them, then trade for the ones that you can trade for. Eventually you'll get some good ones.

To think it's wrong for card collectors to want to collect the cards of the hottest players is just stupid.

Please note: I am not someone who only collects who is "hot"...I collect Dolphins and Jimmy Williams (although I'm looking to get out I think). BUT if Jimmy Williams suddenly took off as the best CB in the NFL and everyone wanted his cards and I couldn't afford them anymore, I wouldn't complain. I'd be happy that a guy that I like and collect is finally getting his due.

Would you all rather that the player you collect start playing badly and sucking for the rest of their career just so you can get their cards cheaper? Would you rather your favorite team finish 2-14 every year just so you can get their cards cheaper? I doubt it.
