I don't think it's been made clear whether this is a full-blown strike or a rotating strike. Neither side has really clarified that.

If it a full-blown strike though, I wonder how long it will be before the government steps in and legislates them back?

Either way, I imagine trading on this site will probably grind to a halt for the duration of the strike.

    COMC Cards For Sale

Today, I went to Staples Shipping Center.
Lowest I got to send a hockey card from Winnipeg to Levis QC at $100 value was $48. Most were in the $70 range.
FedEx, DHL, Purolator and UPS quotes.

Normal cost would have been $2.09 Lettermail or $12 Registerd thru Canada Post. Hope this conflict gets sorted out for all Canadians sake.

I think this is going to be a long one The sides are too far apart and I don't see them being legislated back anytime soon (nor should they be, let the negotiation process play out). Could see this lasting weeks or possibly even a month or more.

So apparently the word is that they're more far apart now then they were 4 weeks ago. Don't know how that's possible but hey

CUPW supposedly 'lowered' their demands from 24% increase over 4 years to 19%. I say 'lowered' in quotations because that includes a raise of 9% in the first year! Which probably means with the cumulative effect of that first year bump that with their latest proposal they're asking for a bigger jump in salary than their initial proposal! Canada Post is right when they say that the union has reverted to their previous positions or increased their demands.

I don't see this being resolved until 2025, possibly in the fall of 2025.

Canada Post as we know it is toast. It could be a really long wait to see what emerges from the ashes.

Fire them all & hire new people!! They wine like this every 5 years or so. $25/hr to deliver mail yet they still complain!!

In all honesty the Government did this to themselves by constantly giving in to this nonsense. If it isnt the teachers its the garbage men or like now the Mail men. Its always one of them!! The government could teach them all a lesson here by firing everyone who refuses to come back to work & hiring new people. I would bet that after 5 or 10 people got fired the majority would come back to work.
The government deserves what it gets here. they have let this go on for far too long...

Only Government employees get raises for incompetence!! I have lived in this same place for 7 years now. Most of the time my mail gets delivered to the wrong side of the building even though i have waited for the Postal Carrier to show them my Mail box is on this side of the building. I even went as far as labelling each Mail Box with who actually lives in which Unit yet still they get it wrong. As i said, only Government workers get raises for continued incompetence while the rest of the world most likely gets fired!!

let me tell you a story about an incident in the late 1980's here in Sudbury when CP was once again on strike & it turned into an all out brawl on Lisgar street, I was there & was involved but it was started by 1 CP worker who attacked a guy for simply walking by the picket line. They said he was a scab. By the way, the guy was still in high school, he was not a scab. At the time most of us hung out downtown either at the mall or at the arcade just up from the mall. The guy that got attacked came to get us & we went back to Lisgar street & confronted these picketers. We were only interested in the guy who attacked our friend for no reason but obviously a brawl broke out. There were Cops & paddy wagons everywhere. At the end of the day the only guy who got charged with Assault was the idiot Postal worker who started this whole mess for no reason, along with the trip he made to the hospital first.
All this because some kid walked past they're picket line cause they were blocking the way.

Forced back under the current collective agreement until May 22. After which, they can go back on strike?

Fells like a temporary solution which could just make things worse.
