Yeah, I agree that busting packs is where all the thrills are. I too have tapered off to mainly the $20 retails and maybe 1-2 $100 boxes per year.
I forgot to list my two MOJO pulls...
    #1 was from a $20 retail box of 01 Playoff Honors. Auto/3-clr-jsy J.Rice PBS
    Traded.
#2 was from an $80 hobby box of 06 Score Select. R.Bush auto
    Sold.
#3 was from a pack of 1996 SPx Baseball at a card show. Ken Griffey Jr. auto
    Sold.

Oh, I also pulled a Kirby Puckett g/u bat auto /25 and a Randy Moss 1/1 from the Powerdeck set. Both were pulled at Toys-R-Us out of the $7.99 boxes. Got my moneys worth!

    Red face

I started collecting in 2004.. I spent about $10,000.00 in 1 year on Boxes only.. I bought 04 Leaf Certified and back then they were $100 per box and have gone down steady since.. I also was buying 04 Absolute Memorabilia which was $160 per box but once the Redemptions expired I stopped buying it because that year had 1 redemption per box...

It seemed to me that I was lucky because I pulled 2 One of Ones and more than 10 cards that were very good..

But I only got a great hit in about every 2,000.00 dollars.. that is about 6 boxes of LCM and 6 boxes of Absolute and the variety boxes that I would buy at my local hobby shops.. But if you aren't lucky then you could spend $5,000.00 on boxes and never get any card that is considered MOJO..

It's not the HUGEST thing, but I pulled a Staubach GU #/25 from a couple of packs of '06 UD. I'd consider that at least a mini-mojo. I got that right after a got back into collecting late last year. I haven't pulled anything similar since, and I certainly never did before.

I have twice in 5 years:

    Sandy Koufax Auto/Jsy
    Mantle/Ted Williams/DiMaggio Triple Jsy

Both were from Retail Variety Boxes, imagine that.

I have hit dome good stuff over the Years and I have hit some Mojo but not a great lot. I mean I am talking cards $200+ in BV. The biggest card I can recall was out of a 96 Donruss product that had some really low serial numbered cards that booked way to high and Hit a Ken Griffey Jr that booked for $800 at the time.

Didn't you pull the Bush/Dickerson auto from Payne's Packs? I consider that some pretty super MoJo.

As for me, I've only been collecting for a year and haven't hit anything at all .... period .... not even one single base rc of Jay Cutler!! :icon_evil

Correction on MOJO. In 89 and 90 I had my only major mojo

1 89 upper deck hobby box Baseball
    4 Griffey Rookies

They were 100+ at the time

    Then 1990 Score Hockey

5 Eric Lindros Future Superstar RC's

They booked for 50+ at the time

Made my christmas. I kept one griffey and graded it at 9. I sold or traded the rest and probably ended up with toilet water in return (kevin mass, ect..)
I still have all 5 Lindros rookies. Now worth 8 bucks a piece. My graded 9.5 is worth about 30. LOL.

My pops (god bless him) bought me my best mojo in 91. A set of 79-80 OPC. He got it on a buisness trip in Toronto at some card shop. I never asked what he paid. I only opened the box to see the gretzky which was like seeing the holy grail. I sealed it myself (packing tape) and it has sit it the closet whereever I went (minus military deployments). Those were the best MOJO moments of my life.

Oh, and to top off my mojo disasters. I pulled a stadium club Farve RC at a card show in Showlow A.Z. in 92 OUT OF ONE PACK. Had absolutely no idea what I had. The dealer offered me 4 bucks for it. I took the bait. I was 14, darn teenagers.
