and so the pain finally ends today...I personally would like to give the "Moron of the Year" awards to (yes it is a tie) Butch Davis and Bruce Arians. No matter how badly we play...no matter what stupid plays we make...Butch will always tell us...that,contrary to public opinion,*I dont even know what our record is anymore* but whatever it is,IT IS IMPROVEMENT.By the way,if Bruce Arians doesnt get fired this offseason I am damn well planning on starting a petition to make sure he is and sending it to Carmen Policy,WHO'S WITH ME!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!! These,in my opinon, should be our priorities this offseason:
1. FIRE BRUCE ARIANS
2. Re-Sign Dennis Northcutt
3. Strength and Conditioning
>Why do I bring this up?Because there is no excuse for us having 14+ guys on IR every year.Maybe we should consider hiring a new Strength and Conditioning coach?
4. OFFENSIVE LINE!!!!!!!!!!!! For the love of all that is good, not even Brett Favre could pass with the piece of crap we call an O-Line.The only good thing we had going for us was Jeff Faine and, what a surprise,he ended up on IR too!
5. Re-Structure Couch's contract AND KEEP HIM. --- Please. If anyone honestly believes that Kelly Holcomb is the answer after this year,I don't even know what to say to you.Because the only thing he showed me is that the best he will ever be is a career back up.
I'll think of more...and when I do they'll be added, but those are the top five IMO right now.Just wondering...does anyone think that if Courtney Brown hadn't gone on IR he would have had a shot at the Pro-Bowl??

Sorry, Sarah,
but the Moron of the Year award goes to any one of the following:
1. Raiders head coach Bill Callahan - fired today
2. Charles Woodson - for calling out Callahan repeatedly in the last 4-5 games, resulting in his being suspended from today's game
3. Joe "cell phone" Horn
4. Minnesota Vikings, who didn't make the playoffs b/c they couldn't beat San Diego, Raiders, Cardinals, and one other team (all who had 4 wins each all season) -- now that's PATHETIC!

actually I was talking about the "Moron of the Year" award in terms of the entire Browns organization, not the entire NFL.
Oh,and in the Plain Dealer today,Kelly Holcomb now says that if he doesn't get the chance to start next year he may ask to be traded or released - and to that I say...na na na na,na na na na,hey hey hey, goodbye - oh and BRING BACK BOOTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lolol...Holcombe got his chance this year; didn't do jack.
I thought he might be 1/4 as good as Joe Montana (i.e. good enough to lead Browns to a winning record for the season and possibly make the playoffs)...but he was just plain AWFUL
What happened to the QB with such a beautiful touch on those TD passes in the Pittsburgh game in the playoffs last year???

Browns fire three assistant coaches
NFL.com wire reports
BEREA, Ohio (Dec. 29, 2003) -- Cleveland coach Butch Davis fired three of his offensive assistants, including coordinator Bruce Arians.
Arians, running backs coach Todd McNair and quarterbacks coach Carl Smith were let go by Davis, who hired all three in 2001 when he got the Browns' job.
The dismissals are the first moves in what is expected to be a busy offseason for Cleveland, which dropped to 5-11 after going to the playoffs last season.
Following Sunday's 22-14 win in the season finale at Cincinnati, Davis shouldered some blame for the Browns' dismal year, saying he had "let this team down a little bit."
Davis spread some of that blame around, but insisted the firings were not a rash response to a bad season.
"This is not a knee-jerk reaction," Davis said. "This is a three-year broad spectrum look at the whole thing offensively, the growth and the development."
Davis, who has two years left on his contract and may get an extension this winter, is 21-27 in his three seasons.
This is the second straight year that he has fired one of his coordinators immediately after the season. Following the Browns' loss in the AFC playoffs at Pittsburgh in January, defensive coordinator Foge Fazio was fired and replaced by Dave Campo.
The dismissal of the 51-year-old Arians has been expected for weeks.
Cleveland's offense was supposed to be the team's strongest unit this season. However, injuries across the offensive line and inconsistency from quarterbacks Tim Couch and Kelly Holcomb led to the offense dropping in several key statistical categories.
The Browns fell from No. 23 to No. 26 in total yardage, went from No. 18 to No. 25 in passing and scored just 15.9 points per game after averaging 21.9 in 2002.
Things are looking up Sarah :)

The 2003 season ended Sunday on a positive note as Lee Suggs exploded for 186 rushing yards and two scores and the Browns bounced the Bengals from playoff contention, 22-14.
Monday brought exit meetings, words of encouragement from Butch Davis, and three offensive coaching changes. Released from their contracts were offensive coordinator Bruce Arians, quarterbacks coach Carl Smith, and running backs coach Todd McNair.
As far as Davis is concerned, the future of the Cleveland Browns starts now.
Davis said the tough decisions to release the three coaches weren’t just based on this year’s struggles or the team’s disappointing 5-11 record. The Browns offense has ranked in the bottom third of the NFL in most major categories in each of the last three seasons and Davis feels it’s time for a change.
“You don’t make knee-jerk reactions based on any one game or set of games,” Davis said. “There’s no one set of factors or reasons. It’s a three-year, broad-spectrum look at all of the things…the whole thing offensively for three years, the growth and development. In a three-year picture, I felt like we needed to make a change.”
Davis said he has some candidates for the open coordinator’s position in mind and will begin the process of finding “the right guy” very soon. He likened the situation to that of the defense a year ago when defensive coordinator Foge Fazio retired and Dave Campo was hired.
“A year ago, it would’ve been easy to have sit there and said we were a 9-7 team and in the playoffs and not recognized the fact that we needed to make some changes defensively to get better for the future,” Davis said. “In that same vein, it’s my feeling that the same reasoning applies this year. There are some things we need to do that will help us become a better football team in the future.
“There are some places schematically and offensively that I’d like to see our offense go. There are a lot of things that can happen. I’m going to have a one-on-one personal conversation with each of the guys on the football team. That applies to the quarterbacks and talking to Tim (Couch) and Kelly (Holcomb) and talking to all the players about themselves. We’ll certainly, as we get into the interview process and start making the decision on the coordinator, we’ll be able to go from there.”
Davis said any talk about the team’s quarterback situation at this time would be premature. He said he believes the team is headed in the right direction and will use Sunday’s victory as a building block for the future.
“I am very proud of the football team and the way they played yesterday,” he said. “Earlier today we had a chance to have an exit meeting with the players and I told them yesterday’s game performance was a testimony to their pride and character. There weren’t many people who thought we’d have a chance to go down there and play well and win. I really believe yesterday was indicative of a total team win.”
SOUVENIRS—Suggs was an obvious choice as Davis and the coaching staff handed out gameballs for Sunday’s win.
“As terrific as his performance was,” Davis said. “He didn’t do it alone.”
The entire offensive line and tight end trio that helped open holes for Suggs was also rewarded. Defensive gameballs went to Kenard Lang, Brant Boyer and Robert Griffith, while Chris Crocker and Brett Conway were awarded for their work on special teams.
LOOKING AHEAD—The Browns finished 4th in the AFC North Division, meaning they’ll play Houston (4th in the AFC South) on the road next season and play host to San Diego (4th in the West).
Dates, times and ticket info will be released in March.
PATCHED UP—Ben Taylor left Sunday’s game in the third quarter after receiving a cut on his right elbow—the same elbow on which he suffered a cut and subsequent staph infection last month.
Taylor said Sunday’s cut was below the original scar and required seven stitches to close.
MORE INJURIES—Rookie DB Michael Lehan will have labrum surgery on his shoulder next week. TE Chad Mustard suffered an ankle injury Sunday, possibly an aggravation of an old injury. Davis said TE Keith Heinrich may have a meniscus tear and will be re-evaluated in a week. WR Andre King is expected to undergo surgery after playing most of the season with big toe injury.
