Yes, and no. They are like the Yankees in the fact that they went out and brought in several star players to be on the team. They are unlike the Yankees in the fact that they spend the same amount of money as everyone else in the league. All the teams have to follow the salary cap. The reason that the star players go to New England isnt because they are getting paid alot, it is because the players want to play on a winning team.
As far as winning in the NFL, the league prides itself in promoting competitive fairness, but there are always going to be top tier teams and some scrubs who just dont compare.

Somone beat me to the punch, and undefeated regular season. They have to win a ring otherwise none of the records matter. Furthermore, this is a one year wonder as Moss will be gone next season and the Pats will come down from their "high".
Supercollecting: LT, Antonio Gates, Hakeem Olajuwon and Jose Canseco

You are right and it is working. There are a few 1-3 win teams each year but it's getting better as far as the parody. Before, you would have 1/4 of the league 5 wins or less and now it's less than that. I however disagree that players will just go play for top tier teams. The greatest example if Edgerrin James who went to Arizona not because it was a winning franchise but because of the all mighty dollar. He was the premier back there and was tendered a contract but wasn't enough for him so he left. The Pats will come down to reality when Randy Moss demands big money and doesn't get it in NE.
Parody is what the NFL was looking for when the salary cap was set in place and they have gotten it. Furthermore, look at the playoff races (especially the wild card). Parody also keeps fans interested and on the edge of their seats until seasons end with the races being tight. In previous years, the playoff picture was clear and the seas on a braight day by week 13 or 14. Now it is coming down to the end of the season where EVERY game has counted since midseason.
