06-25-2008, 01:04 PM #41I do like the idea of a low-end trading forum, although I'm skeptical about how much business it would get. It would be nice to have a forum you can go to to trade for base, RCs, inserts, etc...I would almost like to see one that has a no GU or auto trading rule. That way you would know the people you're talking to are ok w/trading for the cheap stuff and there wouldn't be people coming in just to unload their cheap stuff for your GU and autos. I think it's a good idea...
I do too and really tried to get the "set collectors" and to an extent Players Collectors area's off the ground. My thinking was that we could quick scan those area's and just send out offers on what we have, this(having a list of wanted cards w/user names) could have been a nice resource to use with a recent box break or sorting a 400-5,000ct. commons box.
I'd rather sort my cards with as many avenues open as possible, most people probably like the same time utilization tools(?lol T.U.T, instead of sorting for 1/2 hour Pm'ing , reading/searching posts, only to match 4-5 cards). Always nice to have a majority of the cards have a Possible home.
But in the end it's us the collectors that make or break a forum :(
Maybe we'll get that player/team, base-insert card, set collectors group off the ground yet ;)

In essence, the regular trading forums are "low end trading" forums because we have a separate "High End Trading Forum" for each sport. I think if you specify in your threads what you have to trade and what you're looking to trade, that should eliminate most of the problems.

i agree, and it helps when people put in good titles such as "looking for ____player name___, including base" etc. one thing that sometimes annoys me is when people say they are looking for "all ___player name___" but then when you reply they say they meant all GU and Auto.

hey rick, dont see ya around much (probably just not looking at the right places!!)
honestly, i dont think your solution really works.....there is just an abundance of people looking purely to "trade up" or make a buck however possible......i can put anything in my title, the problem is people dont read or listen.....i cant tell you how many times i see people with a simple title saying "wttf turd ferguson cards" and 1/2 of the thread ends up being "ill sell you this or that".....it should also be common sense that unless stated otherwise (willing to trade up, trading in your favor, etc) that you are looking for "fair trades"......people get discouraged (rightfully so) when they inquire about a $10 card and the other party is only interested in $100 card (and respond with "can i add something??").....its much more stupid and insulting to say that than to simply say "nothing in the same range, thanks".....people ask about stuff and dont respond (in threads and PM's).....there's a whole slew of problems out there, its really discouraging watching it (not even talking personally, just browsing threads!!)
anyway, good luck with them cubbies!!

Yep, it seems like no matter how I word the title of my threads, I still get no responses or people respond with their cards and want a $100 card.
