Hey!! you guys wanna start a low-end traders group on here? or is there one already? just a thought :)

That would be cool. I would be in it, I actually like moving lower end stuff in trades to improve my Colts RC's.

I think the above 2 quotes are a great idea. As if you guys love trading low end get a group and trade amongst yourself.

Now on the reverse side I know personally that some of you guys have come to me or others I know and inquired about cards.

    Trevor,
I know your a low end collector and in all the years we known each other I offered you some of the IRBE's at great deals or made trades for your stuff in the past. Of course I have had some sweet irbe patches that you have been interested but I won't trade them for low end. Does that mean I am a bad person?

I know we used to chat on AOL im's all the time and you would bid on ebay on nice IRBE pieces that were not low end. Of course you didn't win many but if you had would you still be a low end collector. As you love irbe and if you can get a deal on a nice card of his your going to pick it up.

I just ask if your a low end collector why you would inquire about high end patches if you know you only have low end to give in return. I mean you know 99.9% of the time the collector going to say no.

If you trade low end great.....but why would you want others higher end then make them out as being bad traders or greedy? I buy tons of cards off ebay at rockbottom prices for purposes of trading for something I might want. But just because I bought something for .99 cents but books for $40 I have to give it up for lowends? You guys let me know when you've traded away midrange auto's and gu'd cards for base and inserts....

it has become impossible to trade for my set wants anymore

As I stated earlier, I've been able to complete a set thanks to SCFers, so it can still be done..people usually have and want to give out their base cards when they can.

Of course, I am willing to trade inserts and rookies and am also willing to buy, so that makes it easier. Sometimes I think some traders just aren't sacrificial enough..not that you have to give away GU for commons, but a few bucks and a few lower end inserts and rookies can go a long way to getting those sets complete if collectors are truly as devoted to completing those sets as they claim.

And to be fair, some sets are also much harder to complete than others. Most '90s sets are easier to collect, admittedly.

I'm a player collector and I collect everything I can..low and high of Arod. I mostly have low end, but if I get lucky enough to pull a high end card to trade, I usually want something comparable in return. Chances like that don't come often so you have to get the good stuff when you can. I don't consider that greedy, but smart. If i trade $2 cards, I'm expecting to get $2 BV cards in return. If I trade a $20-$40 card, I expect to get a $20-$40 card in return (doesn't matter to me if game used or not). I quite often will trade down also to get Arod cards I need. I have no problem trading a $30 card for 2 $15 cards if I really really want them. Heck I've traded $20 cards for 4 $5 cards, but I don't make a habit of it or my PC will never get better or unique. You just have to find the right group of trading partners who think the same way you do and the trades will happen. The main problem I have is there doesn't seem to be a whole lot Arods for me to trade for out there (at least ones I need). I'm stuck many times just trading for something else that I hope will be good trade bait something I can flip quick so that I can help another collector finish a set or add that special card to his/her player or team collection.

Don, if I were an adult and had a full-time job and the money and all, I'd probably collect differently. You now my situation, I don't have much money, and I'm a cheapskate on top of that, so it doesn't help lol. When I'm an adult, I'll probably buy hobby boxes often where you can get jerseys and all that, but I can't see myself ever being one of those guys that spends more than 100 dollars on a box of cards, I actually enjoy getting base cards of my favorite teams and rookies, thats the fun part for me, the jerseys are nice because I can get favorite team jerseys out of it in return. I know I have been interested in some higher end Irbes before, like Patches and things like that, but obviously I never got any of them, don't have the money. I'll admit if I had the money, I probably would have won the card. We aren't trying to say that all high end collectors are greedy and stuff, we are just saying that when you try to trade with some of them, they won't even give you a look unless you have a 100 dollar patch card. Don, you are willing to trade anything, rookies for rookies, base for base, inserts for inserts. Some of these guys aren't like that, some of them are "Unless you have a Patch of this player, I don't want to deal with you." Those are the people we are talking about. There was one card I wanted, I think an Eric Wright Score Rookie Auto, Eric Wright isn't a popular or big name player that brings in money, and Score is a lower end product. I told the guy that had the card I was interested and offered him my only Football auto, a Phillip Merling, both Wright and Merling were second round picks so I figured it might be fair enough, he said "What do you have for Tom Brady Patches?" and of course I said nothing, and he basically told me to come back when I had some. Stuff like that makes me think I can never make a trade on here. I'd be lying to you if I said I didn't like Game Used and Auto cards, but I don't have the money right now to buy a bunch of boxes just so I can try and get a Game Used card to trade for the Game Used I want. Its not worth all that money and effort to me. So, I do whats affordable and enjoyable for me, stick with mainly rookies and base. I hardly even attempt at a Game Used or Auto anymore.

I don't deal with people like that...they should stick to the high-end trading forum and not post their cheaper cards if they're not willing to make a fair deal for you or any other trader. I hope you realize that most of us on SCF are not like that and are honest and fair traders...that guy seems snobbish to me and I would never respond back, no matter how bad I wanted his cards.

I realize that not all traders are like that. Like I said in my previous post, Don collects high end stuff, but he will also trade base for base, insert for insert, rookie for rookie. He is an all around good collector that will deal with anyone for any kinds of cards they want, and he will make a fair deal. I know there are others on these boards, I have dealt with a few of them making trades for rookies and low-name player jerseys. Just seems like there are more of the greedy traders joining the boards now.
