I have 64 bit vista at work, but i can run 32 bit versions of browsers. I don't know much about how it works.
I also have a "Virtual PC" set up, it is basically an XP environment on my Vista machine, so you could look into that if there's any programs you need to run that work only on XP. Unfortunately I don't know how to set it up, but I bet it's in the manuals or i bet it's on the internet somewhere.

Sounds like the Virtual PC helps those programs to work. I don't have that, so when I was trying to get the old 32 bit stuff to open, I would get a popup telling me it refused to do it because it wasn't compatible with the 64 bit Vista.
