I got a pretty good explanation from OnePimpTiger, so I understand the satire behind this now. Thanks though.

Then you clearly assumed wrong.
I'd still like to know if Murdoch, the cartoonist, or the NY Post came out and said this cartoon had a direct link to the news story about the chimp being shot.

your post asking "those of you who don't think it was racist..." leads people to assume that you did think it was racist.

Perhaps people need to stop assuming and ask then, right? That's exactly the problem with this forum. People assume and like to be quick with the attacks. I wasn't sure what to make of the monkey in the cartoon, so I asked a question to those who thought it wasn't racist.

i'm pretty sure i saw a quote from the cartoonist that said he was somehow tying in the chimp mauling that took place....i won't swear to it, and i don't feel like looking for the source right now...but im pretty sure he did try to link it to that
im not sure its racist, but its definitely in bad taste, and the editor should've caught that...who wrote the actual stimulus is irrelevent, obama is the face of the package, so yes it can easily be implied that the gorilla is obama

I don't think a "racist view" was the intent, HOWEVER, the lack of judgement of the possible perception of what the article could be construed to represent would have to be in question.

Did you have a problem with Bush being compared to an ape as well?

yes it's ultimately up to congress, but the the media presents obama and the stimulus as newly-weds.

Everyone on here makes assumptions based on people's posts. I feel like multiple people answered the question without assumptions. It wasn't until the back and forth was established that anyone got heated. Isn't your use of the word "attack" a bit of a stretch?
