July 20, 1969 - Man Walks on Moon

At 10:56 p.m. EDT, American astronaut Neil Armstrong, 240,000 miles from Earth, speaks these words to more than a billion people listening at home: "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." Stepping off the lunar landing module Eagle, Armstrong became the first human to walk on the surface of the moon.

Fun fact: Armstrong actually intended on saying "That's one small step for [a] man, one giant leap for mankind." However, he accidentally dropped the "a", making his phrase a contradiction, as "man" is synonymous with "mankind."

    Other significant events...
July 20, 1861 - The Congress of the Confederate States began holding sessions in Richmond, Va.
July 20, 1881 - Sioux Indian leader Sitting Bull surrendered to federal troops.
July 20, 1944 - Adolf Hitler was only slightly wounded when a bomb planted by would-be assassins exploded at the German leader's Rastenburg headquarters.
July 20, 1944 - President Franklin D. Roosevelt was nominated for an unprecedented fourth term at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
July 20, 1949 – Israel and Syria sign a truce to end their nineteen-month war.
July 20, 1976 – The Viking 1 lander successfully lands on Mars.
July 20, 1976 – Hank Aaron hits his 755th home run, the final home run of his career.

    Thanks for tuning in!

Man on the Moon. They were talking that this was a bluff and that the US only did it to impress the russians.

Yeah there are several conspiracy theorists out there but whatever, they can think what they want.
