as usual here I am to throw my 3 cents into the mix
While I am a member of both sites, I actually do more trading here then there. The main reason for me is that this site is more user friendly for me.
I do find it disconcerting that non-racing collectors have the audacity to take shots at racing. I don't bash them and expect the same respect in return. I don't enter their contests...I have enough crap here at the house and my wife sure as **** doesnt want something coming in that isnt NASCAR (thank God I married a NASCAR fan even if she likes Dale Jr and Kasey Kahne lol) or for one of our collections (started the wife a Jr and Kahne Album). Dont get me wrong I DO collect some other sports and non-sports cards however limited that is...I just don't focus on it.
Ultimately I think overall we are on the right track as a NASCAR card collecting community.

Hey Mike, I don’t plan on going anywhere. All I did is just delete the banner. I have no idea on how to re-size it, so it was just a shot in the dark to see if it would fit and of course it didn’t.
Just because some of the rules came from another site or one from the past doesn’t make them right. If the rules need to change, change them.
There guidelines not commandments
quote=skippy;6015848]Hey Kevin
Yes there are some rules about the banner size on here, but look at it, we had the same rules on SCS and STC when you belonged and traded there also, as far as spesaking your mind, go right ahead. As long as you are not bashing a driver or another collector it is fine. Same way it was on the other previous sites. Also had a point system for infractions on the other sites also. Probably didn't know because for the most part racing community doesn't have to worry about it.
I myself really get annoyed if other mods come in here and step on my toes over something. I do fight then. One got banned not to long ago for something stupid and is back on without the ban. Hopefrully you'll come back more often and won't feel so threatened about what you say.

Ok, maybe not limit posts, but at least give the racing folks a chance to get some of the cards pulled/won. Most of the knuckleheads from other forums are just here to get something for free they can flip or put on the bay to get money for stick and ball cards. They have absolutely no intention of starting a racing collection.
And since alot of the racing traders only collect racing that makes it kinda tough. I feel like the others that posted here, I don`t do contests in the other forums. I do collect some baseball & football cards still. But when you post in other forums what you`re lookin for but you don`t really have any traders of that sport you get 0 replies. Nobody wants to help you.
I don`t think there`s anything wrong with our racing community. Other forums I`ve checked out here NOBODY wants to help you out. Here in the racing forum if you need something alot of times people will just send it to you. I don`t see that in the other forums.
One thing I can`t figure out is when someone asks for help with a price of a card. Here you can`t say. ANY other site I`ve been on that wasn`t a problem. I just had a big discussion with a mod from another forum saying how dumb I thought that was. He said copyight infringment. If you don`t specificly say, beckett, tuff stuff, whatever how is that copyright infringment?? If you say XX card goes for 10 bucks I don`t see the problem. Just don`t say the name.
It`s not a problem anywhere else. That goes back to to many rules I feel. O can see the need for rules but lighten up a bit. Off the soap box now lol.

I feel quite offended by this post. This is the only club I am currently in. And yes I mainly come here to check out new releases, get in on case breaks and the occasional contest (for racing stuff) I do not come here often enough to start, I do not post much, I do not have the time to do so for the most part. I think it is stupid to post nonsence comments that just fills up the boards. Of course if something important needs to be said, fine. But alot of posts are just "great pull", 'WTG", or offers in wrong areas and posts in wrong areas. So, a person should rack up posts to say nothing? I think not. Some folks have a life.
alot of you know me, have dealt with me. I have been a seller for over 9 years on Yahoo & the bay. I have either sold to you or traded with you and some I have turned down offers. It is what I do to fund my collection. I do more selling than trading and some folks may have a problem with that, sorry to you.
I actually find it very inconvenient to post in here besides being time consuming. I do not have to come in here to get in on the case breaks, I do it as a courtesy to Les and the rest of you to post what I have pulled and will be up for grabs. Sorry if that offends anyone. I say right in my case break post most are for sale and not trades. The reasoning for this is: most folks offer stuff I do not need for trades, offer low amounts for nice (high value) cards, and even the few deals I have done on here were never shown as completed with feedbacks and such.
I have tried to do trading on this board several times...
Any time I have pulled cards and sent long lists of what I have to fill needs are not replied back to or ever completed or they got them somewhere else. The PM thing is the downfall here cuz noone else can see the person got the cards they needed. I have better things to waste my time on or rather be more productive at.
The SCS site was much easier to navigate and was more to racing, which is all I am into. Several months back, for almost 3 months, I was not able to sign into this site, post or do anything but read posts. The problem was resolved but it put me off quite a bit.
Most of my trading I do off site. I know alot of Nascar folks and do private trades, via email or phone. I only trade for things I need, not for things to resell. I did that a few times and lost out big time on the deals.
Sorry to carry on so but I am offended as I seem to be one of the biggest offenders this post is refering to.
My only suggestion is to make a spinoff of racing only onto another site and be more user friendly.
Thanks for the ear as it may be my last stand, sorry so long but needed to get it out.

Now I'm offended so your saying we're stupid for giving someone a congrats on a good box or a good mailday? Then you need to learn what message boards are about, how lame would it be to post a mail day and have no one reply ever. You can stay at ebay if you don't like the idea of being able to give someone a compliment on a good mail day, box break, or whatever it may be.

That is a GREAT idea!! A place for GENERAL discussions. Telling each other personal joys, sorrows, accomplishments brings people together!!!
I'm not a big poster - even when I was on staff I didn't post a whole lot. I enjoy reading the posts & playing the year long games {even though my picks STINK this year} I had to cut back and almost quit buying boxes so I don't get to do a lot of trading - unless someone needs older cards. I have lots of sets for trade & plenty of older singles but very little new. I know there are others in the same boat. A GENERAL chat type thread would give me & others more opportunities to participate.

And for the record part 2...I dont usually let things offend me unless it's driver/sport bashing (which I admit I am guilty of from time to time myself).
I don't mind alot of the things that offend some of y'all but that's just me...I got other things to worry about in life which is much more important

to show that I want SCF Nascar section to be good I wrote a novel
hi Mike and SCFer's ,
Been a really interesting read so far....and I sent Laura a message through E-bay to explain that I didn't believe this thread had anything to do with her...also told her I was sure she would be getting contacted from here by several staff members explaining just that...guess she must not have been invited to "ELSE WHERE" notice that I made this singular...cause other than here and "ELSE WHERE" there aren't many Nascard collector sites left on the web....I would name them...but based on the "rules" I would be in violation of and could receive a "LIFETIME BAN" guess some people are scared of competition????.....some of the post already in this thread have to me part of the explanation as to the major difference between here and "ELSE WHERE"
And before I get the us vs "ELSE WHERE" speech as you have given to others that have posted....
your original post summed it up...people come here for box breaks prices which btw...thanks to Les for continuing to give the racing community a great price on boxes...heck we even have a link to the case break on "ELSE WHERE" ..which encourages members to check here to get a great price on boxes....if that was done here...once again....LIFETIME BAN....
so to me the question isn't so much what can SCF do to improve ...as to what is it that makes "ELSE WHERE" so much different that people only want to get in on box breaks and give a ways on here...
first and foremost ....the people....from staff to our newest ,youngest and oldest member ....we laugh, cry, argue about how bad Kyle Busch attitude is....and in between all that still have time to open boxes...give cards to people for no reason and have a good time sharing in both the hobby and our lives in general....just recently when Kathy lost ET...I didn't post because I cried knowing that she had lost a member of her family....now I can be happy because she has ECHO...if that same post were made her it would get a very similar reaction from the racing family here... but would also have the chance that some non racing member would decide to come on and hi jack the thread and make an immature comment...
you have great racing members here in a tight knit community several members on here are on "ELSE WHERE" also...
I have always said Nascard people are the best people in the world....
ok enough of the soap box...
and this will be me from the outside looking in...since I haven't been on posting in a long time ...but I don't play the games or participate in the box breaks either...so my ears haven't burned yet....
1. As a Press Pass meida outlet SCF receieves box/boxes ....one has to be used as a review of the product....how bout that other box? While on the box review...rather than have the hits either go to the "CARD CASH" store or into the "PRIZE VAULT" do a contest within the week to give them away as prizes.....too often great cards from the boxes have been picked up by non racing people and then offered back to the community for a kings ransom....that leaves a bad taste in members mouths....and before I hear the everyone can get Card Cash by doing articles and participating in the forum...the members that were on here before the unwanted by the racing community merger had a large stock pile of CC well before any racing forum activity was present....I went back into the archives for the Nascar section and noticed it only goes to Jan 1 2009. I was going to show that till the merger SCF had little / no racing section activity....similar to what Traders Retreat currently looks like...and I can mention it since it is owned by the same person
.......when the merger took place the Nascard forum was larger than hockey ,baseball and basketball combined...and 2 times bigger than the football section on STC......that core group were some of the same people that were extrememly upset when the move was finished....I went looking for the thread and since the history on this section only goes to January 09 I couldn't find it....during that transistion there were new rules being forced down our throats...and there were several heated discussions about the move...you lost a few people that have never been back....heck even the games were free on STC....
sorry I soap boxed again...
to sum up idea # 1 to help SCF do a better job of keeping up with "ELSE WHERE"
START GIVING AWAY ALL of the cards that are pulled from the free box/boxes Press Pass gives for review....
and also rather than have 14 different staff members from other sections come in and post up on the review ask the Nascard people to take a look at the box review and post up for a contest....I can't count the times I will read the review and wonder if a mass staff PM wasn't sent out begging for people to post up on the review in order to make it look like there is a ground swell of interest.....heck you could even do a contest involving the review......make it where you have to have posted a certain number of times in the Nascard section to be eligble ....you will get better results and I won't be spitting my drink on my computer laughing at the amount of staff that never post anywhere else in the racing section till a box review....
2. Add some new sections to the Racing area....
as already stated this forum doesn't have an area just to share things other than Nascard related items.....make it and help the members get to know one another better.....
another section that really needs to be considered is
Nascards for all other sports....
I have noticed one of the things that really bogs this place down is the amount of other sport collectors that will find a stack of 1991 Maxx cards and want ONLY another sport and more times than not believe they have a gold mine on their hands...then will come on daily and bump the post up ...heck if no one wanted them for the first 24 to 36 hours odds are they still don't want them....by giving a section for other sports for Nascar you would help clean up the Trade section to focus more on the cards the people on this section are looking for ....
if this sounds like it is being seperatist sounding it is...
for those that have been around for a while....the whole purpose of "ELSE WHERE" was to provide a place that Nascard collectors to have to call home...free from other sports collectors coming in and making ignorant comments about both our sport and our hobby....anyone here remember when the Yu gi o collectors started running their mouths on "the Magazine forum" heck Mike you said we could take your collection and buy them a stereo for their Escalade in their signature when I told them I could buy the Escalade with my collection....Nascard collectors have had an us against the world collection for a reason...our sport and hobby doesn't get the respect it deserves from a majority of the other sports people....if I had a dollar for every time someone has come from another section and shot their mouth off in an open forum I would be typing this on a beach....
this quote sums it up...from a basketball collector
"because we drive to work everyday and don't want to watch driving"
and I agree you aren't going to convert people into collecting Nascards that have no interest in the sport...
so thought 2
add sections
1. Family and friends
2. Nascards for other sports
now onto # 3
"ELSE WHERE" we support and promote any and all sites that have any type of Nascard trading going on...we have links and brief descriptions of all the major and minor Nascard ,and other forums of interest.....
"ELSE WHERE" is also NOT FOR PROFIT.....I will go through and delete accounts that aren't active for several months....rather than have the 400 plus members we would have with 200 that don't exist ...we have 225 and over 100 on each day...I don't sell my members to get $$$....and take that for what it is worth...I am sure that running a forum this large requires cash ....guess I am just old fashioned about doing things for the love of the hobby...
https://www.sportscardforum.com/advertise.php
Why not focus on building the community rather than isolating it from the other sites????That aren't under the same ownership???
Seems like there is a monopoly on certain things....
why can't members sell packs and boxes?? Especially if they can meet or beat the prices of the one person that is allowed to sell them??
Yes I know by now my ears should be getting red...but you ask for improvement ideas...not me...
another thing ....
you should really check the average age of the hall monitors on here....
unlike other card areas of this forum most Nascard collectors are adults...they don't need much supervision ....and if they have a signature too big such as Kevin did early this week...which BTW is AWSOME! rather than slap him with a 2 point infraction....have one of your computer guru's resize it for him and send him a message....
"hey I noticed your picture in your signature is too large...I had one of my fellow SCF'ers resize it for you....could you please place it in your signature to help keep within our rules"......instead he gets a 2 point infraction..do you guys give card cash for people that report infractions??? ...
heck it is your guys site to do with what you want...and I am sure that the other sections that have thousands of members have a large amount of issue with sigs being too big ...but if you want the Nascard section to do better you should tell the Barney Fife's to leave things alone and let you guys handle the signatures and other small issues that arise...
I know the rules are here for some reason...mostly to protect an investment
https://www.sportscardforum.com/view.php?pg=rules
15 points – Spamming another trade site not a part of our network of sites
(Our network of sites includes Trader Retreat, Absolute Hobbyist and Non Sports Card Forum. If you are not linking to those sites, then it is considered spam.)
4. Want to know why people will get boxes and win prizes here and the go "ELSE WHERE" ......
on average "ELSE WHERE" members open 75 to 250 boxes of each Press Pass release....if you are looking for a specific race used ,auto or short print card...and there are 10 boxes opened here and 200 opened " ELSE WHERE" it will most likely be found "ELSE WHERE"....so if you can start opening a few more boxes to increase the over all volume of each new Press Pass release availble here it should increase your trades.....and activity ....
in conclusion....and I have said this more than once...
"ELSE WHERE" has never and will never consider any other site as competition.....my only hope is to make "ELSE WHERE" the best it can be....I would hope based on Mike's asking for help that the Nascard section here will be able to grow and prosper in the years to come....
heck you know what I am going to do when I am finished typing this...
I am going back to "ELSE WHERE" and post a link up to this thread in the other sites of interest section and see if I can get some people that have left this site to come back and chime in....
oh and why not add a feedback and suggestion are like we have "ELSE WHERE" and when you get feedback and suggestions or help on your autograph list why not reply to those people and thank them for taking the time to invest in this place.....
much as I have today...spent the better part of 2 hours trying to make sure I provide you with some opinions and thoughts without violating the 15 point lifetime ban rule...
anyway if this post remains up unaltered I will be shocked....
and if anyone needs to find me I will be "ELSE WHERE"
Chris Nelson "ELSE WHERE" founder ,Card Pimp, Earnhardt SR Supercollector...anywhere but here....

CURIOUS are you calling me a 30 year old guy putting others down. because
first of all thanks i havent been 30 in over a decade so thats great.
second I didnt put anyone down. at worst i called myself a jackass for not understanding how having a racing contest that gave away non racing as a prize made sense to me.
