saw it in imax 3d Saturday. Great movie. it was packed in the theater we were in (every seat sold, they had to come in and make everyone move down to make sure all seats were filled)
graphics were great, acting was good. Overall a solid flick.

yea I saw it a 2nd time today, this time in regular theater (first time in IMAX last week)
It was still great even in regular theater. Every show, especially IMAX, is still almost sold out all day.

It's a really good movie. Awesome visual effects and a decent story with solid acting. For being over 2 1/2 hours it never felt slow moving which was a plus.

Ive seen it in basic 3D and 2D. Im I missing anything if I dont see it in IMAX?
I thoroughly enjoyed it. Of course the graphics were amazing. Yah I can see the global warming/pursuit of resources idea in it, but what really stood out to me was the connection to the treatment of Native Americans (Na'vi by the white men (sky people). Did anyone notice the dream catcher in the office of the corporate guy (giovanni ribisi)? Also the language used throughout the film like "savages" etc. And the spiritual characteristics that the Na'vi hold seem pretty close to those of the Native Americans.
One of my friends hit the nail on the head by comparing Avatar to a cross between Dances with Wolves and Fern Gully. Lol

Ehh it was ok like some of you said already, it had a pretty weak and predictable story line and pretty bad acting but visually it was out standing. The 3d was cool too its worth seeing but not worth breaking records which it already has done lol.

The story was predictible, but it is easily one of the most visually STUNNING movies I have ever seen. I saw it on IMAX 3-D last night. I've never said "wow" so many times while watching a movie.

Won't surprise me if they do leave it longer than the average movie. But, the movie has already made 250 mil domestically in 12 days. 77 mil opening weekend and nearly 76 mil the second weekend. That is amazing for a big film like this to only drop 1.8%. Record shattering in fact. This film will have legs. It would be stupid to pull it from theaters just to release it on video sooner.
Avatar has a great chance of breaking Titanic's record of 600 million in the U.S. It doesn't even need to be in theater for six months to do this. Titanic was in theaters for 287 days.
