I was actually gonna post a thread asking if Titanium has crushed SPGU in people's opinions. For 60$ less than SPGU, Titanium still gives you a hit per pack and the cards seem to be beautiful (in terms of jerseys and patches) . Yes, the nay Sayers will that they are the sticker autos, but from what I have read, that seems to be the only negative thing they can seem to come up with for Titanium. And before anybody says that I am just a Panini lover... I'm not, I'm just calling them as I see them... Any comments?

+1. For cases, I've seen max of 2 of the same inserts over a 16 box case. They've addressed a ton of their issues in this, including redemptions, as there are not a lot of them at all. Take your pick: sticker autos or redemptions.

I was thinking about this earlier. I dislike Panini for many reasons and when I first saw the Titanium product review, I thought it looked like garbage. As breaks started to hit the board, I must say that I was pleasantly surprised. The average box break looks mighty solid and I almost thought about buying a box and giving Panini another chance...but then I realized, the only reason I was willing to give it a chance was because of the value in the boxes...the product still looks uninspired. I think a lot of people are jumping on board with this product because of the value of the product...I can only assume websites and card stores will jack the prices on this product sometime this week...and once that happens, all we are left with is a product with some nice hits, but still uninspired, garbage as far as design.

And your argument is exactly what is wrong with the hobby. We shouldn't be comparing this product to SPGU....we should be looking at it as a stand alone product. This whole UD vs. Panini vs. ITG argument is making us settle for crap.

In my opinion, one of the nicest products for the money this year. If I wasn't saving my money for Forever Rivals, I would break some.

Much cheaper than SPGU, nice swatches selection, some cool themes. But, the set is focusing on rookies, and I collect mostly oldtimers. I see the breaks, and there's less than one card per box that would fit in my PC. That's the major reason I'm not thinking about breaking some. But, for collectors of rookies and young players, that's one of the nicest products around for the money.

I'm looking at this product on its own merits, not comparing it to anything else already released. From my perspective, I'm firmly in the third camp of not understanding the big deal. A few quick points, positive and negative:

    1) Some of the jersey/patch pieces are very nice, although frankly I'm burned out on the overabundance of GU in all products.

    2) I really like how they've spread the Private Signings out over many releases. Nice-looking set, too.

    3) The GU with the picture of the jersey along with the two swatches, are one of the ugliest things I've seen in a long time. It looks incredibly tacky and has no business even in a low-end product.

    4) The New Wave cards are interesting in that they remind me of subsets from the '90s. The colors probably should have stayed in that decade, though.

Not a bad product, but nothing that I'm excited about. I'm neutral on the UD-Panini debate, but I admit to being excited about those sweet-looking patches that will be coming in Prime.

An observation: "I'm not, I'm just calling them as I see them..."

That is kind of strange, that if one defend Panini, or praise them, you're called a Panini lover, but if you praise UD, it's just normal.

I've seen that with all the card companies. Those who prefer ITG or Upper Deck are also given labels like "fanboy" or accused of always standing up for "their" company.

I think Panini has taken so much heat on some early releases that people feel the need to use a qualifier. Given how many people like Titanium and how good Prime looks so far, hopefully that will be eliminated.

I hate this whole the product isn't good because there is sticker auto's autograph. Sticker auto's are a neccesary evil. It's either that or redemptions and either way the card manufacturers seem to get slammed for using either. The only other option is to delay the product until the auto's come back...once again the manufacturers get berated for this. This also affects the card stores...you can't pay your rent with no new products to sell. People get tired of ripping the same product for months.

Before the whole ITG doesn't have redemptions arguement starts, let me say this. Look at ITG's product line and what atheletes are in the product, mainly retired or junior players who have a lot more time to sign and/or use signing as a way to make income. NHL athletes a)during the season have a busy schedule b)don't need the money so are in no hurry to rush auto's back.

I personally think Titanium is a great product especially for the price point. I see way more value in this product than many others for a higher price point.
