Lou isn't that stupid. He has Kovalchuk. Semin would be both a waste of a roster spot and money for them.

This.
While I think that both are pretty good players, they benefited immensely from a very weak UFA class. Someone somewhere compared this to Drury & Redden and truthfully, I can see it. I've never been a fan of these obscene contracts - it gives neither side a fair shake in the long term unless they somehow win 10 straight Stanley Cups and the signee is the Conn Smythe winner every year. Suter's a really good d-man but how much of his prowess is due to Weber, who stands to be a beneficiary of a massive deal himself in a year's time. He's a guy that I've wanted to see in a Habs jersey, but would he want the same mammoth deal and thereby upset the apple cart and the salary structure in Montreal? *sigh*
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

I could see Weber in a Montreal uniform. Ultimately, I wouldn't mind seeing him stay in Nashville though.

Devils need someone to replace the 70 points Parise put up a year. Semin is the only guy on the market who could do that.

But do you want a lazy/selfish player who lacks a solid work ethic/plays when he wants? I can tell you I wouldnt want that on the Flyers.

Good riddance! For those not familiar with the works of Matt Carle, watch last year's playoff series against the Penguins.

Understandably so from your perspective my friend. He's a tremendous player and whatever happens with him, he makes his team better.

I am absolutely baffled that the two prize free agents are going to a market such as minnesota. Do these signings even make the wild a guaranteed playoff team? I don't think it does. Up front other than koivu, they don't really have any proven players. Sure Heatley and Setoguchi can still get you 20 goals a year, but who else is in their top 6? On defence it's the same story. Sure, they have a top flight goal tending tandem with Backstrom and Harding, but this move just puzzles me a bit.
The Leaf's continue to be an absolute joke and I don't know what Burke is going to do now since it looks like Luongo is going to Florida. He mentioned on the radio that a #1 goalie and center are will out there, but I think he's smoking the good stuff.

Um, you just named 5 guys, so I don't think their top 6 is in too much trouble.
