That's why I rarely go to card shops. First they watch you like you're some kinda thief and then act like you're wasting their time if your only buying a pack or two. If you're not buying a box they don't want anything to do with you.

Not true at all... It depends on the shop/shop owner.

yeah, the guy at the store I go to is as nice as can be. I usually buy just a few packs and a few cards from he $5 or $1 box. I don't think I've ever bough a box from a that card store.

Well if it depends then how can it not be true at all? Of course it's true in some cases. What puts shops at a disadvantage is the overhead - they have to tack on a bit and generally cost more than buying online. But that's not my problem.

exactally - like most people now turn to sites like these (with sales), ebay, or retail sites w/ boxes. and rarely ever go to shops
(but a lot of people still do go)

I last went to a shop about a year ago. I wanted to see the new Topps set and picked up a couple of packs. The guys behind the counter were nice but kept trying to sell me on some game that Topps was running with the set (IOW, get me to buy a box). I barely understood (or paid attention) to what they were saying and told them that it sounded like a lot of work to me. They thought that was funny. I wasn't trying to be.

Haven't read the entire thread but hears my take.
I wouldnt have touched the packs in the first place. Even if he did misconstrue what you were doing, you shouldnt have been doing it in the first place. I guess you can look at it this way; its his shop, his rules. Abide by them.
