I guess that depends on your definition of a hate group. That link means nothing to me anyone could have put that map together.

    http://www.splcenter.org/intel/map/hate.jsp#s=TX

Better? And they have links to what the hate groups are.

Here is another from the St. Petersberg Times.

Once again. Per person, there are more hate groups in the South than any other region.

That doesn't prove that racism is more prevalent in the south.

I agree with your first paragraph, thats exactly what I was saying.

Your second paragraph I somewhat agree with. Maybe I dont understand "rap music" because I never grew up in "the hood". I dont agree with Marilyn Manson, and I dont want his crap to represent white people. I know that some rap music is ok, but the majority is what I described it as. And also, I know that I'm guilty of listening to it. Maybe at a bar, or downloading it, or buying a CD.

I make a lot of money, and I dont show it off. Because I'm humble. I hang out with anyone that makes 6$/hour to people that make millions, and I dont really care. The whole thing about the multi-millions dollar houses, a lot of times they may do it just because they want to show it off, but most of the time they do it because they can. And I dont mind people buying houses they can afford, thats cool. Buy the biggest house you can for all I care. I just get tired of hearing about it. I get sick of people trying to show boat it. White or black.

But like I said, MLK didnt have "a dream" for black people to be portrayed as they are now. I wont back down from that argument.

i'm confused...are you saying that you perceive black people as you see ocho cinco / T.I.? black people are portrayed as showboats who like to rub it in and brag about how much money they have and rap about pimping hoes? Do you see rappers/football players as entertainers or representatives of an entire race of people?

why does anybody have to conform to your image of what they should be? Because you are humble, do you think everybody should be?

That tells me that I'm racist. Holy Cow!!!! i never knew that.

Look man, racists are everywhere. But more than racists, there are "race assumists", which I see a lot of, and a some on this board. I hear black comedians say stuff like "honkey", and its ok. Why is that ok? If I said the n-word I'd be kicked off this board. Answer me that please.

#1, you're not confused, you know exactly what I'm saying. And you're just trying to get me to put my foot in my mouth, which wont happen.

#2. I personally see black people mainly on TV. I interract with a few black families in my town, and I respect them just as must as any white, latino, or any other race. Which pisses me off, because I see these black people on TV mis-portraying(sp) most black people. Thats what makes me mad.

a person has every right to say whatever they please, you will never hear me argue otherwise... but you must think the two words are equal...ask a mod why the n word is censored and honkey isn't...

i've also heard white comedians say the n word and it was hilarious...if the joke is funny, people are going to laugh

no...im not trying to trip you up...but you basically just described your perception of black people in general as the showboating chad johnson or criminal reality tv star T.I. that you see on your tv...that MLK's dream was not for black people to act in this manner, which you deem inappropriate

What I'm deeming as MLK's dream is "equality". Meaning to me that he was wanting equality for all races. Not one being better, or whatever, than any other. And I believe I'm right in that aspect.

But what you're saing is my "perception of black people" is what I see on TV. Which is ALMOST correct.

One of my 2 best friends in Phoenix (I lived there for 4 years) was black. I also coached a black kid (I coached 10-11 year old basketball), and his parents were some of the most amazing people I ever met in my life. In saying that, I know I'm not racist (not saying that you think I am). But it drives me crazy to see these mainstreem black people giving a lot (if not most) black people a bad name. In mainstream media (music, sports, and such) black people get a bad name. I dont see how anyone can argue that.

The sad thing about my last post, is the same thing that happens with politics. The media feeds off people like T.I., Chad "Ocho Cinco", or Terrell Owens. So its not blacks fault 100%. Its the media, but at the same tim people like Chad Johnson or Terrell Owens feed off of it. Do you really think that either of these two players want to win a Super Bowl? No, I dont think so. They jsut want the contract, and most of all the attention. T.I.? Does he really need a TV show to help people choose the right path (I've watched the show, and I really do think he's trying to help)? Its not only certain black people, its the media that does this.

Racism will continue to exist as long as the concept of "race" remains as the proponent of our classification system.

In this, there are inevitable discrepancies in how we utilize and implement said classifications because of variations outside of the normative rules of the system (i.e. the concept of "multiracial"). These inequalities then manifest themselves in social relations as racism.

To add onto what I discussed above after thinking about it some more:

On top of "race" people are classified by their descent - this serves to solidify the concept of "race" as an official classification by grounding it in biological properties. Therefore, "race" is further entrenched in our society. As such, the hierarchies in society (class, for example) embody "race" as an attribute, which creates racial tension from the very nature of such division.

"Race" and racism are not going away in the least. I think they are merely becoming more subtle, if not more general in the sense of being a part of society. People become more familiar with it and think less of it. The problem that remains, however, it that the foundation of the concept of "race" in our society formed under destructive and unequal principles. Thus, "race" as it exists as a classification in society must be debased of its principles to do away with racism. This entails the adoption and introduction of a new form of ethno-racial classification in society.
