If it can help some of you guys, I found this on eBay. According to the description, there are 100 of each cards. If it's true, 10K might be a little overpriced, but still a nice card

This is exactly a good example where people are merging in the description "Test Proof" and "Blank Back" cards. With no valid certification printed on the cards, there is no way we can see which card was initially a Test proof, which one is only a blank back. They are all blank back cards. No certification possible about Test proof. The information about 100 printed cards is obviously not accurate according to the real quantity available on the market.

If I take a blank back card of Patrick Roy and print the same "TEST PROOF" on the back, how would you be sure my card is or isn't a real test proof card? A sure thing, it is a blank back card, but no certification possible that it is something else. Too many O-Pee-Chee counterfeits cards on the market.

Because once it's examined by professionals, they would be able to tell the difference between a new ink and an old ink. Plus, how are you going to print onto an old card without damaging it.

I've seen your posts on Beckett and here, and you seem to jump to the defense of your own collection every time a unique Roy card is brought to light. There's no point in attacking this card.

Personally, I'd like to see a better scan of the back.

I'll try to get a better scan, it's in a very, very thick screw to so the image came out blurry. Just gotta find my screwdriver.

And this card very well could have come from the UD vault when it was obtained by his father. Ownership of UD may have just wanted some old high end cards around for a "history of cards" exhibit or something like that. Sure it came from OPC originally, but in tracing the origin of a collectible I've recently obtained, I feel like there are always strange loops to deal with.

Do you think some real 1986-87 O-Pee-Chee blank back cards were recently printed? A lot of blank back uncut sheets were printed, some decided to cut them hoping to get gem mint cards. It is not a question of attacking a card. We speak here about hundreds/thousands of Patrick Roy blank back cards. These cards aren't new on the market.

We will have "professionals" in this hobby when a university will put his name on a diploma to certify the grader professional's education! Until that time, they are paid $7-10/hour, and grading worth what it worth.

nice card to have but $10,000, wow, for that kinda of money I hope he got some kind of certification, saying its a true original test proof or plate, and how it was obtained. I've seen alot of these and wonder how many are real and fake.

Exactly. And not only a certification paper at $10,000, but also a buyer's receipt! I have seen so many collectors getting burned in card shows thinking they bought the "real deal". $10,000 for a card of Patrick Roy only maid of cardboard is quite surprising in the modern hobby era. I am not attacking the card or the person, but I actually think at this point the seller really pushed this sale to an amount way overpriced. Just my opinion as a Patrick Roy collector (in the Montreal/Quebec area). Maybe the next scans (or certification papers, etc.) will show some obvious distinctions between your card and the other blank back cards.

By the way, about the question in this topic, I do not know what is THE best card of Patrick Roy made to date. Few cards have been sold in the $3000-6000. The highest price paid is $10,700USD for a Roy/Brodeur card in The Cup few years ago.
