no comment on above post....just thinking that is why it is SOOO hard to make trades anymore. Man I remember 9 years ago when you couldn't see scans of cards on the old beckett. I believe most trades were made via email. This is the exact reason why we can't do that anymore.

Edit: Everyone knew what essential credentials, star rubies, precious metal gems, platinum medallions were. It did not matter the player if you pulled one ANYONE would be happy. I busted alot of packs as a kid and my best pull to this day was a Hologold of Dan Marino #/50. Believe book was around $250 and got a believe 98 Upper Deck Game Jersey of Barry Sanders at a show for it. That is how great inserts were then.

I would b/c when i started a high dollar pack was like 5-10 bucks. So i would have no hard feelings if they were still like that or if the Gu'ed cards were like in 1996 when UD had them 1:36,000 packs.

Yep, I'm more of a low-mid end collector anyway.

i sure would just like i used to. i love pulling base of ppl i collect to put in my collection. Id rather pull a nice insert over a regular game used anyday anyways.

Considering some Gu'ed are worth less than inserts i would too .
I love to pull base of my team and just most of teh time give away base of the other teams to colelctors.

I would actually prefer it...I do collect autos, but I'd gladly do without them if it meant getting rid of all the GU, event-used, yo-momma used, manufactured patches, letters, etc. I'd much rather go back to the good ol' days where the RC was king.

I would actually prefer it, that or the companies get limited production licenses from the nfl. I always hear people talking crap about the over produced cards of the late 80's early 90's, well what do you think is happenig now. The companies have just found away to make people think its not happeing by producing so may different sets and using paralells. Dont people realize that thye didt get anything worth a dang when they pull a base rookie serial numbered to 500, they act like there arent 5 other versions of that same card with the slightest of differences. Heck even these nfl shield rookie auto 1/1's arent 1/1's anymore. its like oh wow i pulled the spa 1/1, but theres also an ultimate, an exquisite, a natioal treasures, a sterling a contenders, a regular topps, atopps chrome, a bowman, a bowma chrome, a triple threads, a letterman, am upper deck, a heroes, an elite, a classics, a gridiron gear, a threads, a rookie threads, a rookie edition, a draft edition, and so on and so on and thats just 1/1's.
Peyton Manning had probably 100x the number of true rookies as joe montana, now look at matt ryan, matt ryan probably had as many 1/1's as peyton manning did true rookies. And its only going to get worse, its sad when an exquisite matt rayn 1/1 will never even come close to what a 81 topps montana bgs 10 is worth, even if ryan makes it to the hof, theres simply way too many other 1/1's out there.
Id rather have no autos and g/u and have base rookies have value than to have things the way they are today where people just take and toss away everything that isnt a "hit" or only want your high-end cards in trades even when your only looking for set needs or a $10 auto. I think im in the minority when i open packs and get excited to see a base peyton manning or cards i need to complete the set, i actualy look at the base cards, not just shuffle through them looking for a hit.

I'm a base rookie collector as well and would love to see the RC card become popular again.

JFBanicki, you are right on point w/ your argument.

Yea, I remember when packs suddenly jumped in price w/ Stadium Club, Finest, and SP.

I voted no,and it's not because I don't like base or other inserts it's just that I love the thrill of possibly pulling an autograph of a star player or a gu patch of an up and coming rookie.I have put sets together and it is o.k but the gu and auto's that most likely I couldn't afford, like buying a jeter autographed baseball or an eli manning auto'ed mini helmet are available to me in packs of cards, not that they aren't tough pulls but the thrill is the hunt.Take care Steve

Likely moreso than I do now. It would rejuvenate my interest in set building and hopefully force card companies to show a little more design creativity and attention to detail again to base designs and insert sets.

I agree, I'd love to see better set designs.

I'd be curious to know how many of the yes voters are set builders.
