Attended the Motor City Comic Con held at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, MI today. My first time ever attending the convention since I don't collect comic books anymore. Only went there to get the following personnels who were there to sign my items for a fee.
former WCW/WWE wrestler Torrie Wilson - 2/2 trading cards (needed the cards for the set I'm working on)
former WWE and current TNA wrestler Mickie James - 1/1 poster

Also got comic book writer and illustrator Billy Tucci to sign my trading card and comic for free.

After work today, headed out to the venue, St. Andrew's Hall, in downtown Detroit where Sick Puppies were performing tonight to see if I could get any of the members to sign my promo poster. A little bit after I arrived there, all 3 members came back out onto the bus after sound check. Forgot to call for bassist Emma Anzai and drummer Mark Goodwin as they boarded the bus, so only got lead singer Shimon Moore to sign the poster.
Attended the show and afterward, they held a meet and greet with everyone who wanted to meet the band. Got Emma and Mark to finish the poster and also purchased their new "Tri-Polar" deluxe 2-disc CD to be signed by all three members so that I could give it away to my girlfriend, who wasn't able to attend the concert with me tonight due to work obligations.

Attended the Gridiron Greats autograph signing & sports memorabilia show held at the Suburban Collection Showplace out in Novi, MI today. Didn't need any of the other guests brought in for the paid signings (Charlie Sanders, Lem Barney, Desmond Howard, Herman Moore, Kyle Turley, etc). Was only there to get HOFer Gale Sayers. Paid the signing fee and got Mr. Sayers to sign my mini-helmet for me.

It was a pretty good signing, i guess Lem Barney ended up not showing. But overall a great show!

It was an okay show, could have been better. Dick LeBeau could have stuck around and do a signing as well, but probably had other matters to attend to. Would of love to get Paul Hornung too, but he did not attend the banquet the night before, so that left him out of the signings. Couldn't pass up on Sayers since his price was way better than what he'll be charging at the Nationals. Everybody else I either already have in my collection or didn't need. If they do this next year, hopefully they'll include more Hall of Famers (*cough*Barry Sanders*cough*) for the signings. Who did you get at the signings?

Got Derrick to sign my trading card and Charlie to sign my Pistons giveaway poster.

Cool stuff. The "Fearsome Foursome" piece would be ill if you could complete it with Karras, McCord, and Williams. Good luck.

Attended Detroit Lions wide receiver Derrick Williams' 2nd annual celebrity charity softball game benefiting his "Meals On DWheelz" charity as well as Charlie Villanueva's "Charlie's Angels" charity held at Memorial Field Park in Royal Oak, MI today. My primary target was to get former Detroit Pistons and NBA player Rasheed Wallace. Got the following participants as they arrived there:
Golden State Warriors guard Charlie Bell - 1/2 trading cards
Detroit Pistons center Ben Wallace - 1/1 Meijer Promo photo (finally finished this piece off), 0/1 trading card
Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham - 2/2 trading cards
Saw Rasheed Wallace but he told everyone that he was going to sign after the game. During the game, got the following:
actress Erin Cummings - 1/1 index card
Golden State Warriors guard Charlie Bell - 1/1 trading card
After the game, got the following:
former NBA player Rasheed Wallace - 1/1 8 x 10 photo, 0/1 trading card (true to his words Sheed actually signed; I've could have double-dipped and get the card signed but didn't. still pretty stoked to finally get Sheed at last seeing that he was in a rather good mood today, though he wouldn't sign blank photo papers nor index cards for the other graphers)
New York Jets wide receiver Braylon Edwards - 1/1 trading card
Detroit Lions' wide receiver Bryant Johnson - 1/1 trading card
Detroit Lions' rookie wide receiver Titus Young - 1/1 football
former NBA player Rick Mahorn - 1/1 trading card
event host and Lions wide out Derrick Williams - 1/1 trading card
Detroit Pistons forward Charlie Villanueva - 1/1 trading card
Detroit Pistons forward Ben Wallace - 1/1 trading card
Didn't need Detroit Pistons forward Jonas Jerebko, former MLB player Roberto Sanchez, Detroit Lions defensive end Cliff Avril, Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Larry Foote, Carolina Panthers defensive tackle Ed Johnson, Buffalo Bills linebacker Aaron Maybin, former NFL player Lomas Brown, former NFL player Herman Moore, former NFL player Cato June, former NFL player Chaffie Fields, and Dwight Howard's baby mama Royce Reed.
Had stuff for Detroit Pistons guard Ben Gordon, Detroit Pistons forward Austin Daye, and Detroit Lions wide receiver Nate Burleson, but they no-showed the event. Other no-shows were Detroit Lions running back Aaron Brown, Detroit Lions safety Louis Delmas, and former NFL player Lavar Arrington. Last minute additions were Detroit Pistons forward Tayshaun Prince and former NBA player Jalen Rose, wish I would have known ahead of time to bring items for them, especially Tayshaun who I have a 16 x 20 of that's just waiting to be inked. Still did pretty well and can't wait for next year's event.
