Tigers have been on the wrong end, but atleast this year versus previous years, the Tigers have got some nice calls that went their way (the ball that scored Peralta vs Minnesota is the first that comes to mind)
Last season though had many calls that didn't go the Tigers way (called strike 3 to Damon that was 8 inches off the plate is the first that comes to mind)Hidden Content

My only concern with the playoffs is that they are coming in hot. That usually does not bode well for the playoffs. But, Detroit does have arguably the best 1-2 punch with JV and Fister.

Very interesting move here

mario_impemba: Pitching update. Turner pitching Thursday, Verlander Saturday and Scherzer/Fister will split tomorrow's game. #Tigers
I'm not complaining, but i'm not sure why you'd split Scherzer/Fister tommorow. I am happy to watch Turner once more (most likely) for this season.

Normally I would be concerned, however, I'd rather them play well then go in playing bad. Although i'm sure lots of guys will be getting rest so if they slow down the next 10 days, I won't be suprised at all.

trivia
i was looking at the martinez 01 donruss elite. bv $125 but.........beckett lists it as a true rc in the "ultimate rookie card encyclopedia." very nice catch though. i was a little shocked myself, having not paid very much attention to v-mart in the past. i always thought that he was overrated. he has sure changed my mind. way to go jim l & dave d. without his bat behind miggy we are not central division champs.Last edited by mikez1031; 09-20-2011 at 05:17 PM.

luck
you are right, but did you see jv's last start? i'll be conservative, there were, at least 5 strikes that were called balls. can't deal with that in the playoffs, when every pitch is so crucial.

Verlander has my vote for MVP.

Yep, sure did see it. You are right, every pitch is crucial, especially with a guy like Verlander who is gonna throw 120 pitches, every one of those matter.

jv
not to mention how a called 3rd strike changes an inning with a man on third. how about the hitter facing a 3-1 count or a 2-2 count in the same situation. everything changes.
