From the Tribune Sports site - "It was 2 years ago today that 42 year old David Ayres became the oldest goalie in NHL history to win his debut. Ayres, who was an emergency back up goalie that night, stepped on to the ice after the Hurricanes lost both of their goalies to injury and became a Canes legend. Carolina's 6-3 over the Leafs $40M offense that night was enough salt in the wounds, but the cherry on top was the fact that Ayers wasn't just an EBUG, he was also the Toronto Marlies zamboni driver. Another tough loss for the Leafs last night but at least we got a Point that we didnt deserve..
Did the Leafs put Mrazek on Waivers?
I was listening to Elliot Friedman yesterday & he says the Leafs are going after JT Miller. I like JT Miller but we need defense. I just dont get it. Dubas & Shanny need to go!! They have no clue & they are watching the same games we are.

The Leafs brass is excepting that the defence is what it is and will try to out score everyone if they go after a guy like miller. He plays with some gusto and that will help, but the price will be something in the like of robertson, a first and probably another pick or two. He only has one year left on his contract too and u would need to dump some salary too so that's where that Mrazek move makes some sense.

I was looking at the Leafs Schedule & tonight we play the Wild who beat us earlier in the year 4-3 but in our next 10 games we play teams that have a record of .500 or below with the exception of the Capitals. Good timing for the Leafs to get they're crap together!! We still have 3 games each with both the Panthers & the Lightning coming up next month too.
Leafs put Muzzin on LTIR so they have his 4.5 Million to play with. He probably wont be back until the playoffs if at all. If you add Mrazek's 3.5 Million to that we could get a couple nice D-Men!! Wishful thinking on my part!!

There are a couple of other names floating out there on the trade market and the Leafs now have the financial flexibility to do something significant. Matthews showed what he can do tonight and for one game the Leafs were back to playing the way they have been for most of the season. Let's hope they can keep this up! The Taveras line has been terrible for the past week or so. Nylander is back to skating around and doing nothing and J.T just looks lost and frustrated. They might need a boost to their line and a move for Kerfoot back to a more checking role should do the team well.

Now thats the kind of game the Leafs need to play every night!! I know we gave up 30 shots on Goal but most were from non scoring spots & Mrazek made the Big saves when we needed them!!
We have a New Goal Scoring Leader!! I figured Matthews would catch them guys but i didnt think it would be this quick!! I dont think i have seen a better wrist shot than Matthews other than maybe Wendel Clark's!! What a shot!! Go Leafs Go!!

Sure would be nice to add a guy like Giroux to the Leafs 2nd line to play with Willy & JT. If we cant get him i think they should move Willy back with Matthews & Marner with JT & Kerfoot can go back to his 3rd line checking duties. I would like to see Mikheyev up on that 2nd line too. He plays alot with Marner on the PK & they look very good together, would be nice to see that on a daily basis.

Those 2 goals from Matthews last night were just filthy dominant... nobody in the NHL plays like that, except him.
