the article i read said he had little respect for other players and on field and off field rules. this is the guy that spit in a running backs face and got ejected, plus other infractions, like late hits. not my idea of a clean player. described by many as not a nice person. others say he was. i don't know, just stating known facts.
it appears the intruder cut the phone line, got into the house, and broke into his bedroom specifically to do him harm, not for robbery. he must have made someone very angry for this to happen to him. i suspect the truth will not be known.
i feel for his family, in this very very sad situation, especially the daughter.

Regardless of what kind of a person he was, it's still a horrible tragedy. I know he did some dumb things when he first got into the league, but seemed to have cleaned up his act. Listening to Mike & Mike this morning, they said how he really started to turn his career/life around, and head in the right direction. Truly a shame, as he was a great football player. Thoughts & Prayers go out to him, his family, and the Washington Redskins.

is that an apporpriate icon trevorp?
Its very tragic for a man who was starting to turn his life around and "grow up", as one teammate said, to lose his life this early. His family and teammates are in my prayers.

absolutely shocked!! cant even put words together right now.
first of all, bearfield, get real you old bitter man....have a little respect!!
sean was a man who DID have a troubled past off the field, but was well respected on the field. in the past year, sean had made huge efforts to improve himself, something that many try and fail at. he had become a wonderful loving father, and a great man. he had truely turned his life around. ive had the opportunity to meet many redskins....sean is the ONLY one in the past 5 years that actually looked me and the eye and shook my hand when introduced, like a man. he was as dedicated to his profession as there was. sean was a beloved member of the redskins, and will be sorely missed.
sean, you were my fav, and you will never be forgotten....RIP Sean Taylor

I agree w/ theproudestmonkey. Show a little respect bearfield, the man just died and your knocking his character. You've always been rude, both now and the time I tried trading with you.
Anway, RIP to a great football player, but more than that, a man who was changing for the better.
I always remember drafting him on Madden because he was the best safety left in the third-fifth rounds...and boy, was he a beast! Heaven has a great defense now, I'll say that.
RIP

thank you for the kind words. i wish my full comment towards bearfield wouldn't have been edited....truely classless!!
i also wanted to mention something that hasn't been mentioned here or much in the media. sean likely saved the lives of his family by putting himself in harms way. if that alone doesn't define a man, i dont know what does....i cant say enough the positive changes sean had made in his life. we all make mistakes in life, its how you better yourself from those mistakes that are important.....an 18 month old girl just lost a very loving father. as tragic this is to the redskins community, its even more so to his family.
