Joe Gibbs said it best when he said he wouldn't do Sean justice by trying to put into words what he meant to his family, teammates, fans and the Redskins in general

Yes he had problems before on and off the field, yes he has been turning his life around according to teammates and yes he was a good football player. But in the end a young man, son and father was shot and killed for what reason? The fans of the Redskins and the NFL will miss him deeply but his daughter will miss him more.
It's all just a shame.

sean was never in the public eye as a player. always a private, almost shy guy.....but what he meant to me and the rest of the redskins fans is unknown to those outside the community.....he was "our guy" on the defensive side of the ball....we used to yell extra loud, get extra hyped when sean made a play.....sean's play pumped me up on game day like no other skin has in the last 20 years. he was a fan favorite, and he was my favorite....i can only take pride in the fact that i had personal interaction with him on several ocassions, even though it makes this loss even harder....i will be at the game sunday, and look foward to celebrating sean's life in football with 90,000 of my best friends.....the league will be holding a moment of silence before all the games sunday, i urge you all to do the same

taylor ought to be considered a hero. if he doesn't find the murderer where he did, the SOB might have killed the girlfriend and/or daughter if they were both there. i haven't heard if his daughter was in the house as well. he's a hero in my view.
as opposed to people who question a dead man's character.

Put whoever you want in your prayers, that's your right. But I've been raised with the old motto that says "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all." Now maybe back in your days, your teachers wrote on the stoneboard whatever they wanted, but now we try to be respectful and tactful (although I broke my own rule, in this case I don't care). We know you may feel for him, and that's fine, but taking cheap shots at his character does nothing now. He was on the upswing, maturing into a fine parent, and now he's gone.
