it is an opinion thread!! Just because there are differences in opinion doesnt mean that people are "running their mouths off about things without thinking".

    emmitt by far

how can u say that emmitt isnt the best, he holds the td record the rushing record, u people dont like emmitt because you have been raised to either love the cowboys or hate the cowboys u say that about emmitts o-line being so good what about jim brown being bigger and stronger than anyone that played defense or u say put barry behind that line and lets see, he wouldnt have did crap he was a scat back he didnt hit holes he ran one way and then the other he was very exciting no doubt but not better than emmitt

Emmitt may hold all those records your talking about, but you never know what Jim Brown and Sanders could have done if they had not left early. Emmitt basically was just using up a roster spot the last few years of his career.

i can say emmitt wasn't the best, because he wasn't. wasn't that easy?

here is a very interesting article from THE SPORTING NEWS, it is a list of their picks for the 100 greatest football players, #68 is somebodys boy emmitt.
i saved the emmitt fans the trouble of checking, YES there are 10 running backs before him, he doesn't even make their top 10 best running backs. i have 6 others, so he doesn't even make my top 15. but thats OK, he still has most of the footballs he kept.

    http://archive.sportingnews.com/nfl/...-complete.html

barry played 10 years, emmitt hung around for 14 or 15. barry would have the record if he stayed as long as emmitt did.

emmitt doesn't have the TD record, rice does.

That list is B.S. man, what kind of idiot would put montana (or any quarterback by that matter) ahead of otto graham , no qb even comes closer to deserving to lick the bottom of grahams boots let alone be put ahead of him on any lists

7 championships (in only 10 years!!!)
made the championships in every year he played !!!!!!!
    W-L-T 114-20-4 qb's would die for those stats, thats a .851 career winning %
and thats just the beginning of his acomplishments

touchy touchy, graham was good, but montana is without a doubt the greatest quarterback to ever play the game, and i'm wondering why he wasn't number 1 on that list. but this is a running back thing, and emmitt is more or less where he belongs.

There is no doubt that Barry Sander was the best that ever played right now. Here are my defenses to this answer

    1. He NEVER had a good line nor QB during his time with the Lions. HE was the man that they relied on.
    2. One playoff appearance (I believe) in his career and none after that.
    3. Maybe a handful of winning seasons during his time.

The first one is what always gets me to believe he was the best. He was the only guy that I have ever sen that could stop on a dime and get back to full speed in the same play and a short amount of time. No offense to Peyton and Brown but Barry did it all for a TERRIBLE franchise.

Emmitt was good but he was a product of the great players around him. He didn't play for a "bad" Cowboys team until toward the end. The stats are nice for him but that's all they are. Barry got out of the NFL when the Lions wouldn't grant him his wish to play for a winner. Had they done that, the discussion would be null and void. He would be atop the all-time rushing list and Emmitt would be an after thought.
Supercollecting: LT, Antonio Gates, Hakeem Olajuwon and Jose Canseco
