"killing machine". People could kill with a baseball bat, should we take away baseball bats? People could kill with a steak kinfe. Should we take away knives? And maybe even steaks? What about vehicles? Alot of people suck at driving, and get in wrecks that kill people. Murder and violence have been around a long, long time before guns. What about stoning? Can we get rid of all the stones in the world?

Ask ANY criminal............
If you lived in the DC/VA/MD area and wanted to make some quick easy money where would you go ?
Hmmmmmm lessee, Maryland and Virginia people are allowed to own guns. Hmmmmm, law abiding citizens in DC (which is most of them) aren't allowed to own any firearms.
Seems pretty clear to me. But of course most criminals are stupid. Maybe? they'd go where they're more likely to get shot ? Even the dregs of our society aren't that stupid !!

So does that make every gun owner a killer? How about a drunk driver that gets behind the wheel and kills with a car? Does that make a car a killing machine? Gun ownership is a right, just like free speech, therefore I do not see them as different. They were both written in the same document by the people that founded this country.

If you can transform that bat into a machine that fires wooden splinters at the speed of sound, then you betcha, by golly.

What if I, as a criminal, hit someone in the head with is multiple times?

No, a machine is non-human. The rest of your rant seems to trail off into a huge digression, but I thought it would be worth noting that a gun isn't a person. I'm still trying to see where I indicated otherwise.

The day the deaths from a baseball bat outnumber those of readily-accessible guns, then I'll jump that bandwagon.

And a gun can't walk up and kill someone, it takes a human to do that.

So why not eliminate the temptation? You're trying to make a point that doesn't pertain to the discussion.

But then will guns be ok? I mean, come on, anything can be a deadly weapon. What about someone who is trained in martial arts? Should they be banned? Have you ever watched one of those documentaries about maximum sercruity prisons? Have you ever seen the stuff they make deadly weapons out of?
Which leads to the main point. Its not WHAT it is, it's WHO is behind it.
