I'm biased casue I am a fanboy too, but have watched basketball long enough to come to my conclusions.
He's over-rated in the fact that he is viewed as a basketball god by some people, as mentioned above. He is not overrated in a sense that he is the greatest player of all time.
The heart that he plays with, the intensity, the will to win, the desire to get better and be the best, the leadership; those, in addition to the stats and trophies, are all the qualities that make him GOAT.
The problem is that the greatest player ever does not equal god. He's still human, prone to human faults. Off court characteristics do count a little bit but not the determining factor on who's the greatest basketball player, because if that is the case, Kobe "rapist" Bryant, and LeBron "I kick trash cans" James can't be "greatest" players either.
All great players need a supporting cast, basketball is a team game, when someone wins multiple NBA championship all by themselves, then they can be the greatest player ever. Iverson and Lebron were actually the only two post 90's players I have known to actually carry a team pretty far into the playoffs by themselves.
As for the non-calls, there are so many non-calls in the league it's just a typical thing. And it's really obvious that superstars and certain players get special treatment and calls going their way ALL the TIME. Jordan can get all the non-calls he wants, but if he didn't sink that shot, it's all irrelevant. The fact is that he did sink that shot. I mean when you play on the playground you don't get every call, you don't call every call, and using non-calls as excuses of winning or losing is just weak.
As for NBA handing him achievements, I don't see that. Stuff like scoring titles he had to earn. MVP's are given by the media "experts". Championships have to be won, unless the NBA rigged the games, which is possible.
Jordan is a ridiculously horrible GM though and the "Wizards" comeback is a tragedy. Everytime I see a Jordan card with him in Wizards uniform I want to throw up.
SO yes Jordan is over-rated if you rate him as "god". Definitely not over-rated when you rank him as the best player of all times, for now.. because Lebron is a flying tank.

Doesn't everyone need another at least decent player to do anything? Malone/Stockton. Kobe/Shaq. Jordan/Pippen. Garnett/Pierce/Allen. Duncan/Parker/Ginobili.
...and a couple of my favorites, Bird/McHale/Parish and Magic/Kareem/Worthy

btw, according to PSA's Jordan Master Registry, there are 2955 licensed Jordan cards during his career (basketball and baseball) excluding autographs, 1985-2003. I think that's another record. SCF should present him with an award at the National next year. I'm sure he'd show up.
I think Kobe is 2nd with 1779.

Yeah, to my knowledge the cards don't get added to the registry until one is submitted for grading. AI has 575 cards listed right now.
