Yeah that may be true but the test I have for a superstar is taking over a game. Kobe- can take over the game at will offensively. KG- has proven to take over a game with "D". LBJ has shown he can do that with his conference series against the Pistons and he does everything, pass, shot, rebound, and defend. CP3 is not on the level of these guys yet, but he does everything also. D Howard is an offensive beast, but this year he has shown to be a defensvie stopper. I do not think of Melo at all in that way. He has shown to be a offensive player, but I can not think of a game where he just took over the game. Maybe I just haven't seen enough of his games though.Last edited by drtom2005; 02-16-2009 at 09:56 PM. Reason: edit

It depends on how you define a superstar. I said no because in my mind there are different tiers of stars. The first tier is where you find the "superstars". In my mind those players are Kobe, Garnett, Duncan, Shaq, Wade, LeBron, and CP3. That's it. The second tier are where you get your stars like Carmelo and McGrady. Stats aren't what neccessarily define a superstar. Carmelo is very good, but he is not what I would call a superstar.

One time. Did he bring his team back? He has to do it multiple times or on a big stage. Like I said, I am being to think of him that way, a superstar. I think he needs to do more though.Last edited by drtom2005; 02-16-2009 at 08:21 PM. Reason: edit

If someone want to be a super star, he must show he is superstar in PO and Final.
Season is also important but less important than PO.
Real player and Super star is proved in Big Game. That's all.
I have liked Rahim, but that kind shot is a little meaningless because it is season game.
(Of course, that is nice though..)
Above is very nice because it is PO game.
For example, Chris Webber was Power Foward Version of Magic Johnson.
But he and Kings was beaten by KG's one man team in KG's Birthday.
Another example, David Robinson was Crazy in season.
But African Black Puma kicked the admiral and Spurs without any mercy in PO.
In conclusion, I don't tell Melo is like that.
But he haven't proved yet...Last edited by nbacard; 02-16-2009 at 09:08 PM.

Well I think we have a somewhat difference of thoughts. Like I said, I think he is being to reach that status just not totally there. Just getting into the playoffs is easy in the NBA. Going deep is hard. He needs to do that with his team and be the leader to gain total superstar status.Last edited by drtom2005; 02-16-2009 at 09:57 PM. Reason: edit

Are John Stockton and Karl Malone considered Superstars? Yes. If Melo even once reaches the Finals he is a superstar even if he never wins it. I say, he isnt yet.
