Well, for a player that had so much promise and being claimed as probably the best ball player ANYONE will ever see,to only have 2 MVP's to his credit.YES...I would call that zilch for the talent he has! ~~Dave C.

Interesting you say that when you've got a banner wanting someone to win an MVP.
MVPs are ONLY for people of LeBron's caliber. They're not exactly going to someone like Derek Fisher who has the exact same amount of rings as Kobe, doesn't that mean he's just as good?

So IF he wins a ring this summer will you no longer hate?
Or will you join people saying 'he only won it because he had Wade and Bosh'?

The banner is because Verlander did win a MVP, and Cy Young in the same season, which rarely happens for a pitcher. Baseball is the only sport where players aren't judged based on a ring, although it helps their legacy, it's not like Basketball or Football, because 1 Baseball player can only do so much in a game unlike a QB in Football has a lot of control over the outcome of a game, and same for 1 Basketball player.
You're missing my point though. MVP's for a guy like LeBron James means nothing, because at the end of his career, he'll be judged based on how many rings he has. Have you ever heard players like Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan etc judged based on how many regular season MVPs they have?

Good point, I don't know much about baseball so thank you (genuine not sarcasm). I suppose its like football (soccer) a striker can score as many as he wants but if his goalkeeper keeps letting goals in they will never win.
But rings can't be anything or Bill Russell would be the best ever and Charles Barkley would be viewed like he is in Space Jam. Barkley/Nash/Stockon/Malone/Iverson all elite none with a ring. So yes a basketball player can take over a game but its like the adverts say 'one player can change the outcome of a game but it takes a team to win a championship' and I think thats true. You put LeBron on 07 Cavs team or Dwight on 09 Magic and they become contenders but its teams like 07 Spurs and 09 Lakers that win it all.
So I think its a mix of both. An elite player needs at least one MVP on their CV. I mean if Kobe didn't win the MVP a few years back and retired with 5 rings people would cry 'he was robbed'. So just like LeBron needs a ring elite players need an MVP.

NO...I will always hate.I don't hate him solely on his arrogance as a player.I don't like him as a person.Another incident that propelled my hatefulness was when a high school kid dunked on him and he tried to cover it up from the public. How egotistical is that? He has to come down to earth and realize,he's not as great as many scouts thought he would be.This is MY opinion. ~~~Dave C.

why? Ego. Plain and simple.
The stink of how he jerked around Cleveland still lingers. Won't matter how many championships he wins, you can't wash that stink out. It's written in history. Bosh did the same thing with Toronto.
Fans want heroes, but not jerks. Fans can tolerate a little cockiness, which you need to be the best, but just don't act like you're "King", especially since you haven't won any championships to back it up. Plus when you basically give the finger to fans, they retaliate. They know that they are the ones that pay his salary and who make him famous. So it's a message from the fans that they don't like his crappy attitude. Fans are even willing to forgive Kobe's alleged rape charges, but not what Lebron did to Cleveland.
Everyone wants to be compared to Jordan, whether they say it or not. He is the pinnacle of basketball. Why did Kobe and James wear 23? Because they want to be like Mike. Part of them hopes that they can be better than Mike.
But Mike was an ambassador on and off the court, plus he didn't screw over the fans.

When did Kobe wear 23?
Mike's doing a pretty good job of screwing over the fans in Charlotte atm.

No worries. Now in Baseball if you don't show up and you're a superstar, then you become like LeBron, but that doesn't happen often.
The names you listed like Barkley/Stockton/Malone etc, they are all great players, but you will always hear about them "but they never won a championship" that's a huge knock on Stockton and Malone.
I think it's more important to win Finals MVP's though. Regular Season MVP's in Basketball don't mean much to me personally, but let's say the Heat win the championship and someone other than LeBron gets finals MVP, it's a big deal, because it won't be "LeBron's championship".

my issue with lebron began with the decision. not that he left cleveland. he had every right to do that. My issue is that he knew all along he was leaving and instead waited until the end of free agency so that the entire off-season was all about him. The only thing he owed cleveland was letting them know as soon as possible that he was leaving so if they wanted to pursue another free agent they could. Instead, he cared more about being the "king" then doing what was right.
i'm also rarely a fan or great players who are great regular season players. i need to see the "Greats" perform when the championship is on the line.
