i wasnt comparing the two, just stating that lebron can take over a game too. and i do think that MJ is over rated. lebron has a cast, but nowhere NEAR what MJ had. he had pippen and rodman, i mean come on. they could be stars if they played on their own team. let alone put them two with MJ? thats going to be a strong team. i think MJ is superb and the best IN HIS ERA, but he gets WAYYYY over hyped now a days.

I know. That was my whole point on this thread. Some people get anger about it though. LOL.

My guess is that anyone who says Jordan was overrated was born post 1980- they are picturing the late Jordan years. Anyone who saw 1986-1993 (which I am lucky to have only because of WGN and old VCR tapes :-) saw the MJ people talk about when you say Jordan in his prime. Lebron and Kobe both have the ability to "beat you". Jordan had the desire to kick you, punch you, tell you what was about to happen, then do it, and gloat about it afterwards. All part of the Jordan mystique.

And yes, it is scary to think about how many points Jordan would have averaged had he had the current NBA rules. If Dwyane Wade gets to the line 20 times in an NBA finals game, then MJ would have been there 30 :-)

And for those talking about the stars that surrounded Jordan, Rodman was a side-show rebounder and Pippen was one of the best role players ever that never had the desire to carry a team without MJ.

You're right. I was born post-1980, but I've watched some the stuff on ESPN classics. I just don't think Jordan was the best of all time, just the best of his era.

These exact guidlines are why i say Shaquille O'neal is the GREATEST big man of all time. I mean hes old, beat up, has weak knees, cant leave the ground, barely makes it up the court, AND HE STILL CAN THROW DOWN 20+ PTS. AND 15 REBOUNDS ON TIMMY DUNCAN!!!!!
Russell played with a bunch of athletically declined white guys. END OF STORY.

Its a funny thing because you would never have to watch another game ever, or ever seen a NBA game and you could look in a price guide and know who the best player of all time is. Its sad but a price guide is basically showing you who the best players are according to their hobby value. Jordan has always been the leader in value, which is based on all of us spending way too much money on MJ auto's Game Used cards and memorbilia. He is the greatest of all time, and until the hobby chooses another to be the greatest, MJ will always be #1 Just my opinion. Thanks

If Equisite would of been out when Jordan was a Rookie and MJ had a Exquisite 3 color patch Auto Rookie /99 You think Lebron would be worth more? I dont think so. Jordans best and most valuable rookie card is 2500 and its not signed or have a patch and it diffenatly isnt #ed.

Jordan was underrated if anything. How can the best basketball player that ever lived be overrated? I think people who argue that Jordan was overrated are forgetting what type of athlete it takes to do the things he did, and what a lot of these athletes can do. And he was the best ever, so no, I don't think for one second he was overrated.
