Yea, but like Garnett21 said the rules have changed dramatically compared to today. I dont think a ref in Utah wouldnt call a foul on MJ, just because hes MJ...but who knows, still an amazing way to end your career.

You know man I agree with you that that was a awesome way to end a career. Maybe, I was too young to remember, but they never showed the angle were you see Jordan putting his hand on and pushing Russell out of the way in the coverage at the time of the win.

I dont think you can really say there is a "Best of all time" in any sport. The game that was played back when Jordan was playing is different then the game thats now and the game that was played back when Wilt played. As with all sports the game develops and changes which makes it really hard to compair one era to another.

This is a good point. I'll admit to getting suckered into these types of debates a lot (I was just in one on Youtube, lol), but in the end, it's always hypothetical. Sure, it's fun to debate when it doesn't get too personal, but none of us can claim absolute authority for our opinions. My mom was born in 1941 and is still convinced that Bill Russell is the greatest player of all-time; how can I really argue with it? Or with the guy born in the '50s who recently said Wilt's sheer dominance makes him the best of all-time? One could say they are blinded with nostalgia, but perhaps they have more insight than us younger people do as well. Yet basketball is so nuanced and subjective that this debate will never truly end because it's not something than can be estbalished beyond all reasonable doubt. :)

I agree with you. I think Jordan was the greatest of his era in the NBA, but people treat him as the greatest of all time. This is what I'm not sure about. This is why I think he's overrated.

This is exactly why I like discussing it though.

notorious i disagree with you completely about lebron only being a "finisher". he takes over games almost as well as jordan did. he sits out most of the 4th quarters due to him leading his team to 20+ points over their opponents. he was a finisher last nigh against the wizards though. man was that game great. i think lebron does have the potential to be a newer version of "MJ". oh god, i think that comment is going to start some crap lol.

Lebron needs a better supporting cast like Jordan had before you can compare the two.

i wasnt comparing the two, just stating that lebron can take over a game too. and i do think that MJ is over rated. lebron has a cast, but nowhere NEAR what MJ had. he had pippen and rodman, i mean come on. they could be stars if they played on their own team. let alone put them two with MJ? thats going to be a strong team. i think MJ is superb and the best IN HIS ERA, but he gets WAYYYY over hyped now a days.

WOW, i never thought i would see this kind of thread. I think a in fraction is in order. LOL

No he was and still remains the best of all time. Their is no other player in the league that could take Jordan in his prime. Of course he is not good now as he is much older and thats how they all will be when they are his age. NO HE WAS NOT OVERRATED !!!!!!
