    My local post office was telling me the same thing. They are saying anything that is not paper only is not counted as letter mail

    oh yeah this is a fact now, they have to go as light packets, except the PO here was telling me too bad it has to go as a small parcel. Think she should have been telling me

    So, is it confirmed then? We're looking at $7 to the US for a bubble mailer?

    I called Canada Post customer service, and specified I would be sending a size 0 bubble mailer between 50-100 grams and was advised it would cost $2.20. I asked 3 times if there was recently an increase and was told "no". I'm heading out in a couple of hours to send one out, I'll let you guys know what happens. I'm in the same boat as the OP...sold for $7+$2.49. Hoping I'm not giving it away.

    I almost freaked out at the lady at my Canada Post store the other day. I kept my cool and calmly explained things to her though. Here's what happened;

    I had a package going to USA, instead of putting 2x $1.10 stamps on it I put a $1.34 stamp on it before realizing my mistake. I went into Canada Post to pay the difference. Lady tells me she can't send it for $2.20 because it is clearly not paper. She goes on to say that they have started to crack down on this and the packages may not be accepted at the border if they have $2.20 on it and it is clearly not paper.

    I tell her that of the 1000 or so packages I have sent to USA not one has been returned. I told her that if I paid $8000 to send those 1000 packages instead of $2200 and a few packages come back or even get lost then the reward far outweighs the risk. I then went on to say it is absolutely unnecessary to charge so much, whether it is paper or something valuable there isnt 300+% more work going into actually delivering the package.

    She says she agrees, tells me it is out of her control if the package gets turned back at the border. I said Thank you and have a nice day.

    There was obviously a bit more said than that, but she gave me real attitude at first, even though she has seen me in there hundreds of times.

    Just back from the post office...got the, "errr...well, Sir we used to be able...blah, blah, blah." Although, he told me the bubble mailer would cost $2.65 instead of $2.20 as it is sent as a "light packet". Canada Post is a bunch of doorknobs (no offence to anyone here who may work for them). One outlet used to charge me $1.34 to the US...no problems. Another would charge the $2.20 I expected to pay. Now we all seem to be getting different quotes. I don't get it.

    Been doing a lot of trade and a few in USA or Oversee. I never go to the post office. Make sure if it weight 100-200 G that I put 2.20 for Canada, $3.80 for USA and 7.609 for international. For less then 100 g I just put the $134,$2.20 and $4.36 for the international. I have a cheap Startfrit Scale bought at Canadian tires and very accurate, I also have a millimeter Lufkin ruler to measure how tick the package is to make sure it will pass in their plastic gage (it's set a few milliliter less then their gage), Then I am sure the weight and postage fee is right and that the envelope is not too tick. Then I mail in the mail box and have no issue ever. Like the previous poster said in his previous thread, The international mailer all made it fine. So while at the post office they check for paper content, it seem the mailbox still does not and no issue with border yet.
