Why do conservatives care so much for cells that don't feel, have no heart and can't be medically counted as a person, but don't give two craps about live humans who suffer in America and constantly want to take away social safety nets but then want to give the richest Americans more tax breaks?

Why do conservatives care so much about the smoking a plant less harmful than tobacco but don't care if people literally drink themselves to death drinking literal poison that is alcohol?

Why do conservatives care so much about not wanting gays (EWW, YUCKY, Two boys kissing!) to get married, but don't care if straights can get divorced, marry multiple times, and continue to disrespect the "sanctity" of marriage?

Oh and since when do Conservatives care for the "Sickly"....what a joke!

These are the same people fighting tooth and nail to repeal the ONLY comprehensive health care system this stupid country has ever had....and their solution as to what to replace Obamacare with?

    NOTHING!

Social Conservatism....the real danger to America.

I notice you never refute your support for convicted criminals and terrorists all you do is attack conservatives for having God inspired values.

BTW, do you really think it's conservatives that condone, support, promote divorce and multiple marriages? I realize those things are allowed and legal in today's culture but I hardly think you'll find conservatives supporting this just because the laws of the country allow it. Gay marriage will be the same, change all the laws you want, it won't change the hearts and minds of true conservatives that know the difference between right and wrong.

Yes, it is irony.....because it's many social conservatives that support that which they supposedly disagree with.

If someone is terminal then they should have the right to end their life when they choose. Life should be celebrated.

I watched a documentary on a guy who had ALS and lost all function before he was assisted with suicide. Had to fly to Europe to do it. His life was celebrated before he left the US. He made a video of his end if days.

Who do you think it is telling everyone that they should NOT have a right to end their life if they are terminally ill?

    Liberals or Conservatives?

I notice you never refute your support for convicted criminals and terrorists all you do is attack conservatives for having God inspired values.

    Are you kidding me?

    Support for terrorists?

In case you haven't figured out....I'm an unabashed liberal atheist who has a deep dislike for ALL religion.

And guess what? Almost ALL terrorist have a fundamentalist religious ideology...hopefully you can connect the pieces for yourself.

And you know what....I'll be fair....no, Conservatives do NOT condone divorce and multiple marriages.

HOWEVER, they also don't go on the attack and try to ban divorce the way they do for gay marriage.

    You see, that's the point.

Conservatives are NOT consistent in their ideology, they constantly say one thing but their actions show something else.

IF you say that weed should be illegal because it's harmful to society, then you must ALSO say that Alcohol and tobacco should be illegal.....because if anything those substances are MUCH more harmful than weed.

IF you say that abortion should be illegal because you think it's wrong, then stop pretending that you are "small government" because you are NOT, you are for BIG Government making decisions on behalf of women's bodies.

IF you say that Gay marriage should be illegal because of the "sanctity of marriage" or whatever bad excuse you want to come up with, then you must also say that ANYTHING that ruins said sanctity should ALSO be illegal, such as divorce or getting married multiple times, or even adultery.

You see.....conservatives will not take this approach because it's too extremist even for them.

But when they DON'T take this position, they leave themselves WIDE OPEN to immense and very well deserved criticism.

You can twist things, assume things, and try to relate things all you want, but when you are wrong, you are wrong.
Would there be no terrorists without religion?
would there be no divorce if gay marriage were a federal law?
would there be no issues with weed if we were still in prohibition?

IF you say that abortion should be illegal because you think it's wrong, then stop pretending that you are "small government" because you are NOT, you are for BIG Government making decisions on behalf of women's bodies.

it is not the woman's body they are concerned with, it is the life that has started inside the body, do to the actions of the woman, actions she knew could easily lead to pregnancy.
if you want to argue about rights of their body, then you must be ok with prostitution, drug use, self mutilation, choice of being in an abusive relationship, and so on.

I am glad you are for death with dignity, but you support it as a right to do what you want with your own body, to me this is wrong. I support it because it should be an end of life choice for those that can make such a choice. It is not about them doing what they want with their body, it is about not dying a painful death, it is about being treated humanely.

I also feel bad that you hate all religion, living in hate is not a good way to live.

You talk about sports as much as you trade here you. That point you have made.
OK AJ....yes, there are plenty of things I don't politicize.

And actually, no, I don't politicize sports, how many times do I actually talk about sports around here?

    Almost never.

Now, you can give me your opinion about what I said.

Back to the subject at hand, I could lean moderate on this issue but I think 37jetson hit the nail on the head with what this widespread government endorsement of euthanasia could be and I think that is the scariest part of the debate...one day you are deciding or your designated loved ones via POA and the next its the government. If someone can marry dogs, cats, and inanimate objects, how far stretched is it that one day somebody else is deciding when your life is still viable?? Slippery slope IMO.

Alex - I'll pick up the other topics with you in the other threads...stay tuned. :)

Of course there would be terrorists without religion.

But would we have HUGE terrorists groups like Al Qaeda and ISIS without a religion like Islam? That's a better question.

would there be no divorce if gay marriage were a federal law?
would there be no issues with weed if we were still in prohibition?

    You're missing the point Shrew...

My point was the inconsistency of many conservatives.

They say that they are against gay marriage (not because they are bigots) but because they care for the sanctity of marriage.

This is either a HUGE LIE or they are ignorant.

Because there are TONS of things that can ruin the sanctity of marriage and they don't actively try to ban....like divorce and adultery.

Furthermore, the fact that divorce and adultery is so high in the U.S is proof that there is NO SUCH THING as the "sanctity of marriage".

Marriage isn't a holy thing given to humans by god.

Marriage isn't a religious thing either.

It's simply two people that make it official that they want to be together forever.

Personally I think marriage in general is outdated and unnecessary in today's modern world.

We don't need it to be happy, we don't need it to keep the human race going, and as long as both pairs are responsible, a family IS possible without marriage.

If anything, many people nowadays only want to get married for the benefits....not because they actually think or feel that it's necessary.

it is not the woman's body they are concerned with, it is the life that has started inside the body, do to the actions of the woman, actions she knew could easily lead to pregnancy.
if you want to argue about rights of their body, then you must be ok with prostitution, drug use, self mutilation, choice of being in an abusive relationship, and so on.

Do you understand that I've already said in the past that I AM OK with prostitution, drug use, and suicide, right?

    I am a TRUE LIBERAL.

As long as you don't infringe the rights of another human being, I don't literally care what you do.

Want to sell your body for money? Why not? Go for it!

Prostitution is ALREADY legal in porn, thousands of women and men get paid to have sex for the amusement of not only themselves but others.

What I AM in favor of, is STRICT REGULATION of prostitution.

Shrew, did you know that you can go to Nevada and go to the "Bunny Ranch" and pay to have sex with very beautiful women?

But it's heavily regulated, they test you for STDs and HIV/AIDS, they make sure that the situation is controlled and if the girl is in trouble or anything wrong occurs the security team steps in.

See, it CAN work....and it benefits BOTH parties.

Some women really don't mind selling their bodies, and some men want to pay for sex. (Hell, we ALL pay for sex, if you know what I mean )

Anyway Shrew, let me make it crystal clear.....I AM consistent in my ideology, for me humans should be free to do ANYTHING they want to do, with the only caveat that they don't infringe the rights of others, and that certain activities MUST be strictly regulated.

If you don't mind me asking, what are the "rights of others" and where do they come from?

Rights come from us, the people, and the way we shape society.

So the right to free expression (for example) is something we as a society deemed to be logically reasonable for everyone to be able to do.

When one of the chief architects of Obama (Zeke Emanuel) talks about when quality of life deteriorates at a certain age (75 years old from my recollection) we should all pay attention. My parents are both 75+ years old and I do not want people like Alex to decide whether or not that they should receive a needed operation. I for one will never let liberals and progressives to go unchecked.

Do you even read the things I say?

Doing what you are proposing is ANTI-LIBERAL!

Read my words carefully....I believe in allowing humans to do WHATEVER the hell they want to do with their bodies as long as they don't infringe on the rights of others.

Under ANY circumstance would I support forcing the STATE to do something to a citizen against their will.

THAT IS THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT LIBERALS BELIEVE!
